The Systems Administrator manages, maintains, and monitors IT systems and provides tier 2 support to end users. The position's responsibilities include administration of Windows Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, VMware, SAN/NAS, patch management, and backup software. The Systems Administrator also maintains regular helpdesk status updates for support and project cases.


  • Create excellent service experiences that promote the Veridian brand.
  • Administers and maintains windows Active Directory and related services including Group Policy.
  • Administers and maintains servers with specialized functions including but not limited to: Active Directory Domain Controllers, DNS, DHCP, dedicated print servers, dedicated file servers and 3rd party applications.
  • Exchange messaging administration: Responsible for day to day administration and troubleshooting of the corporate email system including web and mobile access. Create new mailbox resources, manage permissions, and troubleshoot delivery issues using exchange tools or the email archiving system.
  • Backup administration: Ensure that all systems are backed up successfully and are transferred offsite. Ensure Recovery Point and Recovery Time objectives are within acceptable limits for each application being protected. Perform restores when requested.
  • Storage Administration: Work closely with Systems Architect to cover day to day administration of file storage systems.
  • VMware Administration: Manage ESX servers. Virtualize existing physical servers when applicable. Provision resources and deploy servers. Ensure disaster recovery capabilities by providing redundant systems offsite and managing replication of Virtual Servers to provide required RTO/RPO.
  • Provide application support to end users and troubleshoot / repair server hardware or software issues. Act as an escalation point of support for other Technology Services team members. Work with application vendor support teams when necessary. Install and upgrade server software / hardware as necessary.
  • Document all new systems, policies and procedures. Ensure documentation stays up to date as changes are made.
  • Collaborate and work closely with the Systems Architect on new projects, upgrades, and business continuity. Be aware of disaster recovery processes and conduct annual tests as required by the recovery plan.
  • Collaborate and work closely with the IT Security department executing best practice security objectives adhering to PCI and other highly secure compliance requirements.
  • Contribute positively to team effort by consistently achieving established goals and expectations.
  • On call availability required for system support as needed (includes nights and weekends).
