Minimum Experience/Education
Faculty teaching undergraduate courses: doctorate or master's degree in the teaching discipline or master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline.

Faculty teaching graduate courses: earned doctorate / terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline. UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the highest earned degree in the discipline.

UNC Charlotte also considers competence, effectiveness, and capacity, including, as appropriate, undergraduate and graduate degrees, related work experiences in the field, professional licensure and certifications, honors and awards, continuous documented excellence in teaching, or other demonstrated competencies and achievements that contribute to effective teaching and student learning outcomes.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
Preferred: M.A. or Ph.D. in I/O Psychology, plus 5 or more years of work experience in talent management and/or leader development.
OR

Preferred: M.B.A. or M.A. or M.S. in Human Resources plus 15 or more years of Human Resources experience, including talent management and leader development.
Duties and Responsibilities
UNC Charlotte is accepting applications for adjunct or part-time faculty. These positions are temporary and usually involve teaching a particular course or courses for a particular semester. These positions are temporary and do not accrue benefits.
Teaching PSYC 6630 for Summer Session 2, 2025. This advanced course will provide students with a broad overview of leader development (or developing the individual knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies of leaders). Leader development is an area of I/O psychology that consists of a complex array of topics and is heavily represented both in research and practice. This diversity of perspectives is in part a great asset, but its fragmentation can present challenges for the field. While a fully comprehensive survey of leader development cannot be accomplished in one semester, PSYC 6630 provides the opportunity for students to explore a variety of topics in the leader development space, learn and practice various leader development skills, and to develop their own sense of what type of leader (and follower) they want to be going forward.
Skill requirements:
* Knowledge of the leader development-related research literature and practice-related issues
* Skill in effective teaching and aiding in the development of students' own self-understanding and growth so that they may become the best leader (and follower) they can be
* Knowledge of various leadership activities (e.g., giving and receiving feedback, conflict management)
* Skill in helping develop students' abilities to engage in constructive, creative intellectual discussions about I/O-relevant topics and to write about such topics in a way that translates the science for a practitioner audience
* Ability to utilize Zoom and Canvas for online learning, (if needed)
Responsibilities could include: Developing and/or updating course syllabus, preparation of lectures, projects, or other student assignments, meeting all designated class periods, maintaining regularly scheduled office hours, grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner, submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
