Service Team Leader

Your role and responsibilities

Under the direction of MV Drives Service Manager, Field Service provides technical onsite and offsite support and expertise in response to a variety of site work requests, telephone calls and emails regarding installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and programming questions and to technical problems encountered by users of ABB Medium Voltage drives and systems. This in turn results in different actions on the part of the individual depending on the specific circumstances of each case.

This role is contributing to the Motion Service division in the USA.
You will be mainly accountable for:
*Perform installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and re-pair of ABB Medium Voltage (MV) Variable Frequency Drives (VFD).
*Investigate problems and independently initiate effective measures for their solution.
*Coordinate activities with related groups to most efficiently achieve objectives to ensure customer satisfaction.
*Participate proactively in contributing feedback regarding product quality issues to reduce warranty costs.
*Submit completed, detailed, and comprehensive service reports in a timely manner and follows up when needed.

Qualifications for the role
  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical program and 8 years of experience in installing, testing, repairing or troubleshooting AC/DC drive systems and their associated controls.
  • Ability to interpret circuit diagrams, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, technical manuals, and technical specifications.
  • Communicate effectively and present information to top management, customers, vendors, and other employees of the organization.
  • Coaches and provides technical guidance to fellow colleagues, departments, and customers.
  • Ability to travel up to 80% of the time.
  • Willing to provide technical support during evenings and weekends on a rotating schedule.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, experience with MV Drives, knowledge of power electronics, motors, transformers, switch gears, and computer network communication protocol and theory of operation preferred.

While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant's qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $61,900 and $115,100 annually.
