Overview

The Director of Compliance oversees HEI's compliance programs. The position designs, implements, and monitors programs and policies to ensure the company meets legal, regulatory, and ethical standards, while mitigating company liability and risk. It works closely with the leaders and members of all disciplines to support their unique compliance objectives.



Responsibilities

    Directs HEI's overall compliance program.
  • Oversees associate compliance with internal policies and standards of practice and leads HEI's compliance certification program.
  • Identifies and ensures appropriate response to compliance violations.
  • Leads or participates closely in investigations into potential compliance violations.
  • Provides regular reporting to senior management on the status of the company's compliance programs.
  • Participates in the review and approval of all standard operating procedures and relevant trainings.
  • Closely monitors both the legal and regulatory environments as well as company strategies to ensure internal policies and practices remain current and relevant.
  • Works closely with compliance entities across multiple disciplines to coordinate efforts and ensure a seamless and comprehensive compliance program.
  • Works closely with the training team to ensure appropriate education for all HEI associates on matters of compliance related to their work.
  • Performs any other job related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required, with a concentration in business administration, legal, finance, or a related field preferred.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years' experience in compliance or a related field is required, including experience with audit, internal controls, risk management, or legal affairs; experience developing and maintaining compliance and certification programs; and experience working with diverse challenges and functions.
  • Prior hospitality experience is preferred.
  • Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks.
  • Ability to work closely with other compliance professionals.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to effortlessly track and manipulate information in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to manage time against competing timelines.
  • Ability to present and interact professionally to C-Level staff.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public etc.
