NDT Level III Specialist

Responsibilities:



  • Participate and understand changes related to NDT industry standards (AMS, ASNT, Nadcap, and Aero customers) and to ensure all applicable sites correctly comprehend / implement required changes.


  • Baselining how each individual Aero site completes their NDT inspections and defining, and replicating, best practices throughout the BU.


  • Maintaining the knowledge of new NDT technology and how it could be incorporated into specific sites.


  • Participating in the SKF Group NDT community and ensuring lessons learned are replicated within Aero.


  • Support sites during customer / regulatory (Nadcap) audits, both in preparation and response to identified findings.


  • Lead development of local resources to fulfill Level 3 openings as applicable.


  • Support sites with a Level 3 opening, both remotely and on-site, until the local position is filled.


  • Support sites with supplier related special process issues.


  • Fulfill MPI, EC, and NE Level 3 responsibilities for the Ladson Campus.


  • Lead selection and incorporation of NDT related capital expenditures.


  • Interact with representatives from a variety of functional areas, both external (customer, supplier) and internal (engineering, quality assurance, and production).


  • This role will require travel; estimated at 20%.





Requirements:



  • Level III certification per ASNT / NAS 410 in ET, MET, and PT methods; provide documentation of education, training, and experience.


  • Additional method(s) a plus.


  • Extensive (5+ years) and verifiable experience as a method Level 3 in aerospace


  • 5+ years of related aerospace manufacturing experience





Desired Qualifications:



  • Aerospace Prime customer Level III approval.


  • Active member of Nadcap NDT task group and relevant ASTM committee(s).


  • Aerospace bearing manufacturing experience for rolling elements and rings.


  • Self-starter able to effectively interact across all levels of the organization.


  • Able to effectively work in an environment requiring considerable independent judgment, analysis, creativity, and pragmatism.


  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
