Job Summary
The Agriculture Experiment Station at Auburn University seeks applicants for a Quality Assurance Specialist! The individual selected for this position will implement quality control laboratory procedures, facilitate EPA drinking water certification, and run customer samples for the AU Soil, Forage, and Water Testing Laboratory.

The Soil, Forage and Water Testing Lab at Auburn University serves the farming communities of Alabama through testing and analysis of a variety of agricultural materials, including soil, water, plant tissue, poultry litter, forages and feeds. This research testing laboratory also serves the citizens of Alabama by providing routine testing, commercial testing, and analysis of soil and tissue samples from lawns and gardens, as well as water from households, wells and other water resources.

Essential Functions
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform standardized laboratory tests according to prescribed procedures with high precision and accuracy; calculating and recording test results; maintaining a clean, sterile, and safe laboratory environment.
  • Implement QC Procedures and SOPs.
  • Facilitate writing EPA document.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Level I: Bachelor's degree in business, management, science, agriculture, or related field plus 2 years experience in quality management.

Level II: Bachelor's degree in business, management, science, agriculture, or related field plus 4 years experience in quality management.

Level III: Bachelor's degree in business, management, science, agriculture, or related field plus 6 years experience in quality management.

Substitutions Allowed for Education:
When a candidate has the required experience, but lacks the required education, they may normally apply additional relevant experience toward the education requirement, at a rate of two (2) years relevant experience per year of required education.
Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications


Minimum Skills and Abilities

  • Must be able to interpret scientific data to assess water quality: Analyze and interpret data like chemical properties to know the quality of water.
  • Knowledgeable on measuring water quality parameters: Quality assures water by taking into consideration various elements, such as temperature, color etc.
  • Familiarity with standard analytical methods, such as EPA methods including QA/QC procedures.
