This is an excellent opportunity for a Chief Philanthropy Officer (40 hours/week) at our Jackson Street Administration Office in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and/or in our Doty Street Administration Office in Madison, WI.

PPWI's compensation philosophy is rooted in equity. Starting offers are determined by both the candidate's applicable experience and internal equity. The Chief Philanthropy Officer pay starts from $172,000 per year.
Additional $1.50 per hour for bilingual (English/Spanish)
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO) is a senior executive, agency leader, and strategic thought partner to the CEO. They are responsible for innovating and growing PPWI's operational and philanthropic development work as a core component of PPWI's business model. Articulate the vision and set the strategy and direction for PPWI's agency-wide philanthropy efforts. Provide leadership, strategic direction, and manage the execution of Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin's (PPWI) statewide 501c3 and 501c4 fundraising program and provide supervision and support to the philanthropy team. The CPO is part of the agency-wide leadership team who design mission-centered business strategies for the organization's growth and success, and in partnership with the board of directors, develop the agency's vision, strategic plan, and annual budget.
QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS:
A commitment to the mission, vision and values of Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, Inc., including advancing a culture of belonging.
Demonstrated breadth and depth of expertise in philanthropy to bring a nuanced perspective to the creation and successful operation of related strategies and plans.
Experience with philanthropic and operational aspects of a high-quality philanthropy program. Proven ability to cultivate, solicit, and close six- and seven-figure gifts from individuals and history of engaging in capital campaigns.
Proven leadership and supervision ability with a history of advancing efforts to engender a positive organizational culture.
History of engaged, strategic, and productive internal and external relationships, including experience working with executive, volunteer, and board leadership.
Successful history of leading the execution of complex cross-departmental projects, including demonstrated communication skills and the ability to actively engage with people from many backgrounds and points of view.
Demonstrated history of innovation and calculated risk-taking within a complex organization.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
Must have a bachelor's degree and at least ten (10) years of progressively responsible fundraising experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired may be considered.
Demonstrated experience with Raiser's Edge or similar fundraising data platforms.
Working knowledge of Wisconsin/Milwaukee/Madison fundraising communities.
CFRE is preferred.
Must have demonstrated supervisory experience.
SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE:
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; providing feedback; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The position is predominantly sedentary, requiring the ability to sit, bend, stand and walk. May require occasional stooping, reaching, stair-climbing and repetitive motions of the hands and wrist related to writing and typing on an electronic keyboard. Rarely requires kneeling, pushing/pulling and repetitive motions of the feet.
Physical demands of the position necessitate hearing, talking, handling and grasping regularly. May require lifting up to 30 pounds. Specific vision conditions include close vision reading. Requires the ability to operate a computer, telephone, fax, copy machine and adding machine or calculator.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The position is generally performed in an office environment but involves frequent interruptions. The noise level is generally low to quiet. The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations, however, may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform said essential functions.
Occasional evening and weekend hours may be necessary. This position requires traveling statewide, therefore a valid driver's license and auto insurance in accordance with agency liability standards is required. Must have transportation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • include, but are not limited to, the following:
Fundraising/Philanthropy Strategy Development and Execution:
  • Design a strategy to grow PPWI's philanthropy efforts as key business strategy, while maintaining a commitment to authentic donor relations.
  • Lead the development of an agency-wide strategic vision and action plan for 501c3 and 501c4 fundraising to meet mission and goals.
* Develop short and long-term strategies, plans, and infrastructure to consistently and successfully achieve fundraising goals.
* Oversee the implementation of annual and multi-year strategies including but not limited to: major and leadership giving, core donor giving; direct mail giving; workplace giving; foundation and government grants; corporate contributions; capital campaigns; planned giving. Monitor and evaluate outcomes. Make programmatic shifts as necessary.
* Expand giving across all programs, diversifying bases of fundraising support to reflect the diversity of overall agency supporters.
  • Advance the culture of philanthropy across PPWI.
  • Cultivate and steward a portfolio of selected donors.
  • Oversee and maintain strict compliance of all philanthropy policies and protocols.
Leadership and Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with the agency's executive leadership team and board to:
* Develop the agency's vision, strategic plan, and annual budgets.
  • Design business strategies for the organization's growth and success.
* Lead and ensure advancement of top agency priorities.
* Ensure collaboration of cross-functional teams.
* Adhere to organizational compliance.
* Establish organizational policies and procedures.
  • In partnership with the CEO, develop board and committee membership and relations; Ensure PPWI has an engaged, effective philanthropy committee.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of departmental plans, strategies, plans, and budgets.
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally to advance agency goals.
  • Support and facilitate team members' leadership skills.
  • Maintain a public presence, serving as a community representative, diplomat and advocate for PPWI interests and issues.
  • Participate in Planned Parenthood Federation of America's National Development Officers' Council and other national initiatives as strategically needed.
