Maintenance Technician

Air Liquide Large Industries provides our customers with industrial gas and energy solutions that are vital to their own industrial production. We own and operate over 2,000 miles of industrial gas pipelines in the U.S. supplying mainly oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and syngas in large quantities from multiple production sources to major customers in the chemicals, petrochemicals, refining and steel industries. Our pipeline operations and industrial gas production facilities are closely monitored 24/7 within our leading-edge operations control center located in Houston, Texas. Our operations control group monitors over 89,000 data points and assists with product supply and coordination. We are constantly optimizing our supply network to provide high reliability and energy efficiencies allowing Air Liquide to adjust supply needs more quickly and effectively enabling growth to our customers.

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW? The main object and purpose of this position consist in ensuring the design, implementation and maintenance of control equipment in the plant and adjacent buildings. The incumbent has to supervise work performed on electrical equipment and rotating equipment, while promoting ALC's quality and safety objectives.
  • Ensures proper operation and/or repair of production equipment: Maintains control equipment in working order. Calibrates measuring devices. Maintains production equipment, control and protection devices. Arranges for quick and cost-efficient work or repairs. Takes necessary actions to reduceproduction downtimes. Takes action or uses resources available in order to solve analytical, electrical, instrumentation or mechanical problems.
  • Ensures coaching and development of team members: Provides training to team members on a continuous basis regarding proper equipment operation, safety devices, technical issues and regulations, with respect to ALC standards. Writes equipment operating, calibrating, or maintenance procedures. Conducts team members' performance reviews and provides feedback to employees.
  • Updates information: Provides maintenance and support for plant data-acquisition systems. Performs data entry for customer reports and to update equipment database. Prints out reports and analyses based on that information. Prepares problem summaries for reporting purposes and suggests necessary adjustments. Shares his/her knowledge and makes his/her expertise available.
  • Manages alternative service providers: Offers training to service providers. Establishes relations with potential service providers. Reviews the performance of external and internal resources. Develops a list of potential resources to deal with emergency situations during vacation periods and planned shutdowns.
  • Quality/Safety: Actively promotes ALC's quality and safety objectives. Knows and respects all procedures indicated in ALC's Quality Manual. Implements necessary corrective and preventative measures to follow up on customers' claims. Assists the Quality Facilitator in his/her learning process of the ISO 9001-2000 standard.
  • Process improvement: Ensures application of procedures. Works with his/her team and with multifunctional teams to continuously improve the working process. Analyzes his/her activity, identifies causes of dysfunction and suggests appropriate corrective actions.

SKILL SET/EXPERTISE

  • High School Diploma (2 year technical degree preferred)
  • Minimum 4 years I&E experience
  • Knowledge of the use of a computerized maintenance management system
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office / Google tools
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks & prioritize work
  • Ability to maintain, repair, and calibrate analyzers, transmitters, control valves, etc.
  • Basic understanding of the facility's control system
  • Thorough knowledge of the operation and safety aspects of the MCC/switchgear
  • An understanding of the facility's process

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Has full range of motion and ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to work extended hours and shift work as business needs dictate
  • Ability to climb and ascend vertical ladders as required
  • Ability to enter and work in confined spaces
  • On call nights, weekends and holidays as required
