The New York office of HDR is in search of a Health Principal to join our growing practice and continue the legacy of providing our clients and communities with creative design solutions that improve the health and human condition of those they serve. Ranked #1 in the World Architecture annual list of top healthcare design firms, the New York office of HDR is a leader in innovative planning and design, client service and thought leadership on health projects locally and throughout the region. HDR is home to world-class health expertise and the Health Principal serves as our client's conduit to those capabilities.

The primary responsibility of the Health Principal is to grow and develop the health architecture practice in greater New York and surrounding area. They will oversee health projects in a senior leadership role (e.g. Project Principal), and participate in practice management as part of the local leadership team. The successful candidate will also focus on developing and winning new business relationships and opportunities with health organizations and related institutions in the local and the regional market.

Health Practice Leadership Responsibilities



  • Local Practice Leadership. Working alongside other practice leaders, grow a well-balanced, multi-disciplinary health team in HDR's office in New York; assess capabilities of staffing resources; grow, develop, recruit and maintain expertise, balance all aspects of an expertise and design-driven top tier health practice.
  • Collaborate with Firm's Health Leadership. Work with the East Region Health Director and firmwide health leaders to implement key initiatives, investments and strategies for growth and practice development, obtain new project work, generate thought leadership, and contribute towards local office profitability.
  • Build Client Relationships. Develop strong client relationships and serve as a key client relationship manager on projects.
  • Manage Health Practice. Work closely with local office Managing Principal to ensure that the health practice is meeting the business objectives for the firm, national health practice, regional practice and local office.
  • Demonstrate Local Leadership. Participate as a health thought leader in professional organizations, activities and services in/around New York that further the firm vision, value and relationships.
  • Represent and Advance the Firm. Increase the awareness and understanding within the community of the firm's health practice on a local, regional, and national basis.


Marketing and Business Development Responsibilities

The position will include the following:



  • Collaboration for Business Development and Marketing


  • Coordinate regularly with the New York Managing Principal and the East Region Health Director on all practice growth efforts.
  • Identify, qualify, and develop business leads with practice leaders.
  • Develop effective capture plans to convert leads to wins.
  • Coordinate, collaborate and cooperate daily with other Business Development staff and Managing Principal and leverage their roles and assistance to build teamwork and maximize effectiveness and results of all BD and marketing efforts.


  • Proposal Writing. Lead and oversee the analysis of RFQs and RFP's and the development of written proposal responses. Develop, craft and write proposals and oversee the preparation and timely completion of qualifications packages and proposals with all contributing parties both inside and outside the firm.
  • Interviews and Presentations. Lead the development of interview presentation strategies, messaging, and all team preparations for winning presentations and interviews.
  • Regional Teamwork. Work and collaborate with the other health leaders, marketing staff and design professionals throughout the firm and particularly within the firm's East Region to develop relationships and win work.
  • Strategic Marketing. Co-develop, co-lead and monitor targeted marketing strategies, goals and actions in cooperation with local, regional and national health marketing leaders. Co-lead the development of annual strategic market sector planning.
  • Progress Tracking. Co-monitor marketing progress, performance indicators, marketing report accuracy, budgets and costs, risk management and manage progress within assigned marketing resource allocations.

Qualifications



  • Professional credentialing in architecture, interior design or related field. Applicable state registration.
  • Minimum 15+ years of experience in A/E/C industry.
  • Must have extensive knowledge and experience within the local and regional health market.
  • Must be capable of leading a health team and making client presentations.
  • Proven business development experience in health consulting industry.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills are required.
  • Excellent people skills, and verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Honesty, integrity, passion, teamwork, enthusiasm, energy, drive.
  • Ability to collaborate and integrate with existing team.
  • Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED.
  • Advanced credentialing desired (e.g. ACHA, LEED, EDAC, etc.)
  • Preference given to local candidates

Typical starting pay range for this position is $163,363.00 - $233,375.00 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.) Pay Range for New York: $150,000-$215,000
