Compensation Range: $120K - $170K depending upon skills, experience, and education.

At nLIGHT DEFENSE Systems, Inc., we are developing rugged and compact laser weapon system solutions that can operate and survive in challenging Defense environments. We need a motivated and driven Contracts Manager who is excited about enabling our contractual needs to optimally perform as a business supporting the US Warfighter.

Job Description:
The Contracts Manager is responsible for contract review, working with others in the organization to manage successful resolution of US Government contracts-related actions.
Responsibilities:
  • Review draft US Government contracts provided by prime and subcontract tier customers, applying various US Government contract types (CPFF, FFP, CPIF, IDIQ, T&M, etc.).Review commitments and key terms with internal stakeholders, including finance and legal, draft redlines and negotiate favorable terms and conditions.
  • Coordinate NDA completion. After initial review, coordinate with legal to review revisions to nLIGHT NDAs or NDA forms initiated by other entities.
  • Recommend courses of action and negotiation approaches.
  • Support program/project level contract deliverable obligations with tracking, communication, and deliveries. Administer contracts through all lifecycle stages.
  • Support proposals with contract perspectives, review, and content.
  • Support proposals with guidance in communicating within acquisition rules and submitting the proposals through official channels.
  • Ensure contract records are accurate and well-maintained.
  • Provide advice and guidance to internal teams supporting contract efforts.
  • Track and provide clear status to management.
  • Identify opportunities to improve business processes and devise plans/recommendations to implement these changes, coordinating with others as appropriate.

  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and maintain good working relationships.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in government contract support or leadership roles, including a minimum of 5 years working with US Department of Defense (DoD) contracts and subcontracts with customers.
  • Experience reviewing and understanding contract terms, redlining and successfully negotiating key terms and conditions.
  • Experience and knowledge of intellectual property considerations in DoD contracting.
  • Possess superior organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple contracts across various programs/projects with key deadlines.
  • High level of familiarity with the FAR/DFARS and its flowdown/cascade through contract tiers.
  • High level of proficiency in MS Office applications and tools.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable with confidential information and applying safeguarding processes.
  • Excel in individual and collaborative work assignments, with focus on promoting a collaborative work environment.
  • Able to effectively manage schedule and priorities to meet deadlines and provide timely support.
Additional Desired Experience / Capability:
  • Experience working with government contracts with suppliers, including implementing requirements related to being a government contractor.
