Application Window Open date: May 21, 2024 Most recent review date: Thursday, Jun 20, 2024 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Friday, Nov 21, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description Physician-Scientist - Experimental Neuropathology Research The Department of Pathology and the Weill Institute for Neurosciences at the University of California San Francisco seek an outstanding physician-scientist for a full-time faculty position with research, teaching, and clinical responsibilities at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor Level in the tenure-track (Ladder Rank) series. The successful candidate will devote at least 80% of their effort in directing an independent basic or translational research program focusing on the mechanism(s) that regulate proteostasis in neurodegenerative diseases using both in vitro and in vivo models. The successful candidate will have a track record of innovative accomplishment in basic/translational research using the latest CRISP-based technologies to investigate disease mechanisms in neurodegeneration. The candidate will have or seek to develop a robust portfolio of extramural grant support. The successful candidate will be proposed for membership in the Biomedical Science (BMS) and Neuroscience Graduate Programs. Additional duties will include departmental and university teaching for graduate students, medical students, house-staff and fellows, and clinical service commensurate with the individual's qualifications and interests. The successful candidate must possess an MD or MD/PhD, be Board Certified or Board eligible in Anatomic Pathology and Neuropathology at the time of appointment, and must have or be eligible for a medical license in California at the time of appointment. A minimum of two years demonstrated postdoctoral research experience is preferred. Individuals with a documented record of grant support are highly desirable. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $112,500 - $377,200.
