The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Research lab in the Division of Surgical Science, Columbia University Irving Medical Center, is seeking a highly motivated and energetic technician A. Technician A will report to the PI. Responds to and completes tasks as instructed by the PI and staff associated with designated research projects.

Responsibilities



  • Prepares materials for and assists with experiments.
  • Activities related to the creation and maintenance of humanized mice.
  • Performs experiments according to written protocols.
  • Performs necessary analysis and calculations, records data and writes reports on research findings.
  • Performs mice behavior.
  • Performs preparation of brain slice and recording electrophysiology on brain slices and tissue dissection to obtain tissue to store in -80c freezer.
  • Orders and maintains laboratory supplies.
  • Maintains a lab notebook and accurately records related to task.
  • Prepares solutions and cultures.
  • Other duties as necessary to the functioning of the laboratory, research project or work unit.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Two years of college or a completed A.A. program with an emphasis in chemistry, biology or physics or a completed animal husbandry program.
  • One year of related experience, or equivalent in education, training and/or experience

Other Requirements



  • Familiarity with chemistry, biology or physics terminology and techniques
  • Ability to perform work in accordance with safety regulations and standard laboratory protocols.
  • Ability to keep records in an orderly fashion.
