The incumbent in this position will have the primary responsibility in managing a large mouse colony. In addition, the incumbent will work with current lab members, including postdoctoral scholars and/or graduate students, to investigate the role of glia in neural development and/or neurodegeneration. The incumbent will participate in studies that use mouse models and human brain tissues to understand the contributions of glia, including microglia and astrocytes, using primary cultures, immunohistochemistry, RNAscope, and microscopy. Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service.
