Position Description: ThinkTek is seeking an experienced Data Architect / Data Migration Lead to provide technical leadership for enterprise data migration, data architecture, integration, and data engineering initiatives. This role will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive data migration strategies, defining current and future-state data architectures, establishing data quality standards, and engineering scalable data transformation and integration pipelines. The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert and primary liaison for data architecture, working closely with technical teams, business stakeholders, system owners, and external partners to ensure data is secure, accurate, scalable, and aligned with enterprise architecture and security requirements. Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and execute a comprehensive Data Migration Plan, including migration strategy, sequencing, dependencies, risks, validation, reconciliation, and cutover activities.
- Document and maintain As-Is and To-Be conceptual, logical, and physical data models, including associated data dictionaries and metadata.
- Analyze disparate legacy data sources and develop detailed source-to-target mappings for migration into future-state data schemas.
- Identify data dependencies, transformation requirements, business rules, and data lineage throughout the migration lifecycle.
- Draft and propose data quality rules and standards for stakeholder approval and support data profiling, cleansing, and remediation activities.
- Analyze and help identify duplicate, orphaned, incomplete, inconsistent, or corrupted records and support remediation activities prior to migration.
- Apply data engineering best practices to design and build scalable, reliable, automated data transformation and migration pipelines.
- Develop repeatable processes for data extraction, transformation, validation, loading, reconciliation, and exception management.
- Coordinate with stakeholders and technical teams to design, engineer, implement, and oversee interfaces, integrations, and data pipelines required for continuous and secure data synchronization.
- Define and implement appropriate data validation, monitoring, error handling, logging, and reconciliation mechanisms.
- Ensure data models, pipelines, integrations, and supporting architectures comply with applicable enterprise architecture standards, security requirements, and protocols.
- Design and engineer optimized data structures and analytical data models supporting executive dashboards, operational reporting, and high-level performance metrics.
- Collaborate with analytics, business intelligence, and reporting teams to ensure data is structured for efficient querying, reporting, and visualization.
- Evaluate existing data architecture and recommend improvements related to scalability, performance, maintainability, security, and data governance.
- Establish and maintain data architecture documentation, including data flows, lineage, interfaces, schemas, models, standards, and architectural decisions.
- Serve as the primary data architecture subject matter expert and liaison for internal teams, government stakeholders, vendors, contractors, and external partners.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to data engineers, developers, analysts, and other project team members.
- Support technical reviews, architecture discussions, requirements development, design sessions, and implementation planning.
- Identify data migration and architecture risks and develop mitigation strategies to support successful project delivery.
Required Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 7+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, data migration, database development, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing enterprise data migration strategies and plans.
- Strong experience with conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling and data architecture.
- Strong understanding of relational databases, data warehousing, data lakes, APIs, and modern data architectures.
- Experience with data profiling, data quality, data cleansing, validation, and reconciliation.
- Experience translating business and technical requirements into scalable data solutions.
- Understanding of enterprise security and architecture principles, particularly within DoD or federal environments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
Pay Range The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $170,030 - $183,020. This range is a good-faith estimate and not a guarantee of compensation. Final compensation will be based on factors including experience, education, skills, geographic location, internal equity, market data, and applicable contract requirements, and may fall outside the posted range.
