REPORTS TO: Director of Supply Chain FUNCTION: The Shipping & Operations Supervisor is responsible for leading outbound fulfillment activities, transportation coordination, and order execution processes to ensure exceptional customer service and operational efficiency. This role focuses on improving the movement of products to customers, strengthening departmental capabilities, expanding operational ownership of order-related activities, and driving continuous improvement throughout the fulfillment process. The supervisor will collaborate closely with Customer Advocacy, Operations, Production, Sales, and Purchasing teams to improve delivery performance, increase efficiency, and support company growth. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Logistics & Shipping Operations
- Lead daily shipping and logistics operations to ensure on-time and accurate customer deliveries.
- Develop and implement initiatives that improve shipping performance, reduce transit issues, and increase customer satisfaction.
- Establish and maintain relationships with transportation providers to improve service and control costs.
- Identify and implement process improvements that streamline shipping workflows and eliminate inefficiencies.
- Analyze shipping trends and operational data to drive continuous improvement efforts.
- Develop standardized shipping procedures and ensure compliance with company policies and customer requirements.
- Lead resolution of transportation, delivery, and shipping-related issues.
Key measures include on-time shipment performance, freight costs, and carrier performance. Shipping Department Development
- Strengthen the shipping department by expanding responsibilities and capabilities within the team.
- Develop processes that transition order-related activities from Customer Advocates to the Shipping team where appropriate.
- Ensure the Shipping team has ownership of shipment preparation, order verification, shipment documentation, and customer delivery requirements.
- Train, coach, and develop team members to support increased operational responsibilities.
- Create accountability measures and performance standards within the shipping function.
- Collaborate with Customer Advocacy to ensure a seamless transition of order management responsibilities and maintain high levels of customer service.
- Establish clear communication processes between Shipping, Customer Advocacy, Production, and Sales teams.
Key measures include on-time shipment performance and shipment accuracy. Decision Rights
- Approve order specific supplier selection and contracts within defined dollar thresholds.
- Escalate logistics decisions above threshold
Additional Supervisory Requirements
- Create individual performance expectations for shipping staff; provide ongoing coaching and conduct performance reviews.
- Administer company policy and disciplinary action consistently in partnership with Human Resources.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Education
.
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, operations management, business administration, or related discipline preferred
- APICS/CPIM or CPSM certification a plus
Experience
.
- Supply chain experience.
- Experience in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing with engineered-to-order and configure-to-order work.
- Experience with ERP/MRP tools (Epicor preferred).
Skills, Knowledge & Other Requirements

- Thorough knowledge of purchasing methods, vendor negotiation, and value analysis.
- Understanding of inventory control principles.
- Strong financial acumen (working capital, purchase price variance).
- Analytical and computer proficient, with expertise in tools like Excel and BI platforms.
- APICS CPIM or CSCP preferred; CPSM a plus.
