The Sanmina facility in Austin, Texas provides precision machining and mechanical assembly services to customers. Precision machining capabilities include vertical milling, horizontal milling, and turning on a wide range of materials including aluminum, copper, composites, stainless titanium, and high alloy steel with a milling envelope of up to 60" x 50" x 40". The facility specializes in high-mix, low volume production and also offers subassembly, integration, New Product Introduction services, and clean room assembly. Job Purpose The Manufacturing Engineer supports New Product Introduction, New Product Development, Sustaining production and transfer released designs to production and other Sanmina sites as required for assigned projects.Provide manufacturing engineering / machining process support for internal / external manufacturing engineering programs. Execute all duties and responsibilities associated with the role of a Manufacturing Engineer. This position will be the primary technical interface with customers and internal Sanmina team on assigned projects. Interface with R&D, program management and other cross-functional team members as part of the NPI team. Provide Technical project leadership support to Program Management to generate a Project plan with timeline to ensure customer expectations are met. These include, but are not limited to: Job Responsibilities:
Support all activities associated with a product line, project, or related components.
Be a fully contributing member the engineering team.
Provide engineering support to sustaining product production in CNC environment.
Provide content necessary to produce manufacturing documentation including Bill of Materials and Manufacturing Router Instructions.
Initiate and follow through to execution all customer-driven and internal change control requirements.
Be the operations project lead that can represent manufacturing, procurement, planning & logistics in addition to manufacturing engineering in NPI core team meetings.
Lead manufacturing engineering support for new product development activities, interface with R&D to translate design requirements to manufacturable processes.
Provide DFM/DFA feedback based on early prototype builds to achieve consistent manufacturable processes.
Lead the transfer of design changes from design engineering to manufacturing.
Implement SPC Control on in-process data
Performs root cause analysis & recommends corrective actions to address manufacturing issues.
Continuously work to improve manufacturing methods, efficiency and product quality.
Work closely with production supervision to ensure timely resolution of daily issues.
Work closely with operations teams such as procurement, quality control, planning and logistics.
Interface with suppliers and quality engineering to resolve supplier quality issues.
Monitor quality reports and field performance of assigned product line, identify trends, investigate problems and implement corrective actions.
Oversee and contribute to the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes.
Ability to effectively work in a team environment and meet timelines and objectives
Collaborate closely with customer engineers to ensure manufacturability of components and systems, providing feedback to improve designs.
Identify and recommend cost reductions, efficiency improvements, and quality improvements
Analyze failure data, summarize, and present analysis to customer engineering team
Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Other duties may be assigned as require.
Ability to travel up to 20%.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/ Manufacturing/ Mechatronics /Instrumentation Engineering
5 years or more of experience in manufacturing engineering within the Contract manufacturing for semiconductor industry.
Hands on knowledge of creating process flowcharts, PFMEA & Process Control plans.
Ability to effectively communicate with hourly team members, mid and upper management.
Lean Six Sigma experience.
CAD 3D modeling and Solidworks.
Relevant experience interpreting and creating engineering spec, drawings, models
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively to overcome challenges
Preferred experience with Oracle
SPC Controls
