OVERVIEW:

The Mechanical Engineer will design and draft material handling equipment and runways.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Designs products such as overhead cranes, crane components, and runways.
  • Works with a design team to create design sketches, layouts, and plans.
  • Uses computer-assisted design (CAD) software to create preliminary and detailed drawings of the product.
  • Produces specifications for products and chooses raw materials and components to be used in production.
  • Perform quality checks with the use of total station or other equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent mechanical and technical skills.
  • Proficient with computer-assisted design (CAD) software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering required
  • Two years of related experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to use a computer, keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to walk throughout manufacturing facilities, warehouses, and outdoor work areas.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods while conducting inspections, troubleshooting equipment, or supporting manufacturing operations.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb stairs or ladders as necessary to inspect equipment, machinery, and work areas.
  • Ability to access and inspect all areas of machinery, equipment, and production facilities.
  • Ability to distinguish colors, read technical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and computer screens.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, customers, vendors, and contractors in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed footwear, hard hats, and other safety equipment as required.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to customer sites, vendor locations, project sites, or other company facilities, as required.
