Job Description
PCI is seeking an experienced Glass & Glazing Operations Manager to lead commercial glass and glazing operations for the Los Angeles, Inland Empire, and Orange County markets. This individual will oversee the continued development and growth of the business unit, including estimating, project management, field operations, fabrication, warehouse activities, and team development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and oversight of the Glass & Glazing business unit, including estimating, project management, field operations, fabrication, and warehouse activities.
- Lead estimating activities, including bid selection, assignments, bid reviews, pricing strategy, scope development, and final proposal preparation.
- Establish estimating standards, historical cost data, labor productivity rates, and vendor and supplier relationships to support accurate and competitive bidding.
- Partner with business development and branch leadership to evaluate opportunities and maintain a bidding pipeline aligned with business unit growth objectives.
- Ensure thorough project turnover from estimating to operations, including review of scope, labor assumptions, material pricing, schedule, risk items, exclusions, and project strategy.
- Oversee fabrication and warehouse operations, including production, quality control, inventory, staging, material handling, and scheduling.
- Develop and expand PCI's in-house Glass & Glazing fabrication capabilities, including equipment, tooling, processes, facility layout, and staffing.
- Monitor estimating and operational performance, including labor, material usage, productivity, costs, and profitability.
- Lead recruitment, hiring, training, mentorship, and development of the Glass & Glazing team in partnership with branch leadership and Human Resources.
- Establish clear roles, responsibilities, processes, and expectations to build an effective and scalable Glass & Glazing organization.
This position is safety sensitive.
Salary Range: $175,000-$215,000 annual salary plus non-guaranteed annualized bonus program.
Basic Requirements
- 7-10 years of progressive experience in the commercial glass and glazing industry, including project management, estimating, and operational leadership.
- 3-5 years of experience leading and developing teams with responsibility for people, processes, and overall business performance.
- Strong knowledge of glass and glazing estimating, including quantity takeoffs, labor and material pricing, bid review, scope development, and proposal preparation.
- Experience with glass and glazing fabrication, shop production, and/or warehouse operations, including material flow, quality control, and production scheduling.
- Thorough understanding of commercial glass and glazing systems, installation methods, materials, construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and shop drawings.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project financial performance, including budgets, cost projections, labor productivity, change management, and margin performance.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, bids, and operational priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word and comfortable learning estimating, project management, and operational software.
- Strong understanding of safety requirements and best practices related to glass and glazing fabrication, material handling, warehouse operations, and field installation.
Preferred Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Science, Construction Management, or related discipline.
- Experience working with union representatives.
- Local to Los Angeles, Orange County, or the Inland Empire preferred, but not required.
