Responsibilities

Control Systems Mechanic job responsibilities include but not limited to:



  • Dismantle, repair, make adjustments to, overhaul, erect, install, assemble, fabricate and service general electrical and instrument (E&I) equipment throughout the plant
  • Know and understand basic AC/DC electrical theory
  • Proficient in electrical and instrumentation installation and troubleshooting
  • Provide the site production facilities with reliable, uninterrupted, and safe electrical energy supply
  • Detect faulty equipment by inspection, testing, or general knowledge of the electrical and instrumentation worktrade
  • Perform troubleshooting and preventive maintenance work to prevent breakdowns that could curtail production or cause dangerous or unsafe conditions to exist
  • Adhere to strict deadline for scheduled equipment PMs/calibrations, including but not limited to:



    • Process Instrument Calibrations
    • Motor Control Center PMs
    • Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) PMs
    • Combustible Gas Detector Calibration
    • Interlock Verification Tests


  • Work from blueprints, written specifications, sketches, and oral instructions
  • Make repairs using reference material and prior experience without specific instruction
  • Utilize testing and measurement equipment



    • Digital Mult-meter
    • Insulation Tester
    • Process Meter
    • Field Communicator




Qualifications:


Minimum Requirements:



  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must have a valid state motor vehicle driver's license
  • Associate's degree in a related field or two or more years of related experience

Qualifications

Required



  • Experience with instrumentation such as pressure, temperature, level, flow, analytical, and control devices.


  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, loop drawings, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to use tools and test equipment safely, including digital multimeters, insulation testers, calibrators, and other maintenance instruments.
  • Understanding of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance practices.
  • Ability to follow lockout/tagout, electrical safety, process safety, confined-space, hot-work, and other applicable safety requirements.



Preferred qualifications



  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, and maintaining industrial electrical and instrumentation systems, including electrical circuits, motor controls, control panels, power distribution, control valves, positioners, transmitters, analyzers, switches, actuators, final control elements, and related test equipment.
  • Experience in a chemical plant, refinery, power generation facility, manufacturing plant, or other continuous-process environment, with working knowledge of distributed control systems, programmable logic controllers, safety instrumented systems, variable-frequency drives, industrial communication networks, and platforms such as Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell, Rockwell Automation, Siemens, ABB, or Schneider Electric.
  • Knowledge of hazardous-area electrical equipment, intrinsic safety, grounding and bonding, and applicable electrical codes and standards; experience using computerized maintenance management systems such as SAP, Maximo, or similar platforms.
  • Prior experience leading maintenance tasks, coordinating contractors, or serving as a maintenance subject-matter expert.

    • Applied Technology - no minimum required, but scores arestilla factor andreviewed by hiring managers


  • Successful completion ofSelect Assessment for Manufacturingadministered by Talogy(Qualified candidates will receive an email from Eastman with instructions on how to complete this upon submission of application)



Training Requirements (after reporting to work):



  • Complete 3 year apprenticeship program that includes:




    • Classroom (books, hands on labs, tests) which is primarily done on the apprentice's own time
    • On the job training
    • On going satisfactory performance with quarterly evaluations and feedback
    • Maintain current status on all procedural and safety training
