The HEPA Filter Testing Technician/Lead serves as the primary technical expert and team lead responsible for the planning, execution, and documentation of High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter testing activities at SRNL. This individual ensures that all testing is performed in accordance with ASME AG-1, ASME N510, ASME N511, DOE-STD-3020, and applicable Lab-specific nuclear safety requirements. The Technician/Lead acts as the on-the-ground authority for test quality, personnel safety, and regulatory compliance within the AET Testing Group.

Independently performs a broad range of non-destructive evaluations and accurately interprets results to determine structural integrity and serviceability. Applies multiple NDE methods, resolves routine technical issues, supports procedure improvements, and mentors less experienced evaluators. Ensures compliance with applicable codes, standards, and quality requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required & 5+ years of progressive NDE experience.
  • Working knowledge of ASME AG-1, N510, N511, and DOE-STD-3020
  • Familiarity with radiological work permits (RWPs), nuclear safety basis documents, and ALARA principles
  • Demonstrated ability to independently evaluate complex inspections and mentor junior personnel.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current AET Testing Qualification from the Harvard AET Testing Workshop or other accredited Institution recognized by the Department of Energy.
  • Valid OSHA 10/30 or equivalent safety training
  • Minimum of two (2) years of hands-on experience testing HEPA filters in a nuclear environment (DOE complex, NRC-licensed facility, or equivalent)
