Department:Department of English Department's Website: http://english.uark.edu Summary of Job Duties:The Department of English in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Early Modern British Literature to start in August 2027. This is a standard nine-month faculty appointment. The successful applicant can expect to teach two courses per semester, including Introduction to Shakespeare. Other courses could include a graduate course on early modern British literature, an upper-level undergraduate Special Topics course, a survey of early British literature, and Introduction to Literature for majors and non-majors. The University of Arkansas has a vibrant community of pre-modernists and an active program in Medieval and Renaissance Studies that sponsors reading groups, conferences, and a colloquium series. The University of Arkansas, ranked as a Research 1 doctoral university with very high research activity by the Carnegie Foundation, is the flagship university in the state system. In addition to teaching duties, the successful applicant will be expected to pursue an active program of research and contribute to the institution's research mission as well as perform academically related service.
