Job Description

Position Summary:
The Quality Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day quality and food safety activities on the plant floor at the Iowa Park plant, ensuring raw materials, WIP, and finished product consistently meet specifications. This individual directly supervises quality auditors and inspection staff, enforces established quality systems and procedures, and drives root-cause problem solving and containment when quality issues arise. The Quality Supervisor partners closely with Operations and reports to the Quality and Training Manager, supporting the site's broader quality strategy through consistent, hands-on execution at the shift and line level.

Quality and Compliance:

  • Enforce and interpret the site's quality and food safety procedures for plant personnel, ensuring day-to-day activities align with QMS, HACCP, SQF, HALAL, KOSHER, and GMP requirements.
  • Assign tasks, confirm coverage, and set expectations for quality auditors and inspectors at the start of each shift; verify inspection results and coach staff to ensure defect standards are applied consistently.
  • Identify corrective actions and process improvements through root-cause analysis, quality data, and other structured problem-solving methods for issues arising within their area or shift.
  • Monitor processes, equipment, and control points to catch problems early; coordinate containment when defects are found and escalate risks to the Quality and Training Manager quickly.
  • Maintain standard operating procedures, process controls, testing, inspection, and positive release practices; track quality metrics such as process capability, control charts, PPM, and measurement quality.
  • Directly supervise, schedule, and coach shift quality auditors and technicians; lead site quality activities including laboratory practices and quality and food safety audits, partnering closely with Operations to maintain compliance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Support incoming material inspection and help resolve supplier-related quality issues in coordination with the Quality and Training Manager and Procurement.
  • Support customer quality matters - audits, complaints, investigations, and corrective actions - as directed by and in partnership with the Quality and Training Manager.
  • Accurately and promptly enter quality and time data to support compliance, customer satisfaction, and reporting requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and track quality performance metrics for assigned areas.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline preferred (Engineering, Chemistry, or Food Science); equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • 2+ years of progressive experience in Quality, Manufacturing, or a related field within a manufacturing environment.
  • Prior lead or supervisory experience preferred, including coaching front-line staff, setting daily priorities, and building technical capability within a team.
  • Working knowledge of quality systems, manufacturing processes, process controls, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with quality and problem-solving tools such as root-cause analysis, SPC, and FMEA; Six Sigma Green Belt a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive quality improvements at the shift or line level using data and structured problem solving.
