Experiments
- 50% of time
* Conducts specified laboratory experiments and tests on retrieved orthopedic implants using established methods, procedures, and techniques.
* Accomplishes necessary preparation and setup of equipment and instrumentation for experiments.
* Adheres to established quality control policies and procedures to ensure the reliability and integrity of data.
* Observes experiments in progress, records observations accurately, and troubleshoots routine issues as they arise.
* Notifies the Sr. Engineer of problems associated with experiments, measurements, or analyses.
* Maintains a complete and legible laboratory notebook, recording all tasks performed.
* Adheres to laboratory safety requirements, including general safety and chemical/hazardous-waste handling and disposal methods.
Records
- 20% of time
* Collects and analyzes data resulting from experiments and presents findings to the Sr. Engineer.
* Prepares clear and understandable representations of data, such as graphs, charts, tables, and statistical summaries.
* Contributes to the preparation of scientific manuscripts by preparing graphs, tables, and charts.
* Conducts literature searches to build understanding of experimental results and to identify new or improved methods, procedures, and techniques.
Laboratory
- 20% of time
* Performs day-to-day care and housekeeping of the laboratory, including cleaning, restocking, inventory, and organization of storage and work areas.
* Checks, calibrates, and maintains equipment in working order, performing preventative maintenance at prescribed intervals.
* Maintains records associated with laboratory activities, both digital and print.
* Instructs others in laboratory methods, procedures, and techniques as experience allows, and provides technical guidance as required.
Miscellaneous
- 10% of time
* Establishes and maintains effective communication and positive working relationships with staff at all levels, co-workers, and students.
* Self-motivated; proactively engages with team members and contributes to a supportive laboratory environment.
* Demonstrates professionalism and collegiality through actions, interactions, and communications appropriate to an environment that is welcoming to all.
* Performs other duties as assigned. |
