E595 Test Technician - Aerospace Materials Testing

Pay: $28.00-$35.00+ per hour DOE + Benefits and Bonus program!

Position Overview

BBSI has partnered with a well-established aerospace and advanced materials testing organization serving the aerospace, defense, space, and high-reliability industries. We are seeking a detail-oriented E595 Technician to support laboratory testing of materials used in vacuum and space environments.

The E595 Technician will perform ASTM E595 outgassing testing, including sample preparation, vacuum testing, precision measurements, equipment operation, data collection, and documentation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hands-on laboratory, aerospace testing, vacuum systems, or technical manufacturing experience who enjoys working in a highly precise environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform material outgassing testing in accordance with ASTM E595 and established laboratory procedures.
  • Prepare, clean, weigh, condition, and document test specimens prior to testing.
  • Set up and operate vacuum chambers, ovens, temperature-control equipment, and related laboratory instrumentation.
  • Monitor vacuum pressure, temperature, test duration, and equipment performance throughout testing.
  • Perform precise pre- and post-test measurements to support Total Mass Loss (TML) and Collected Volatile Condensable Materials (CVCM) calculations.
  • Accurately record test conditions, measurements, observations, and results.
  • Maintain traceability of samples and test documentation.
  • Assist with equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and laboratory upkeep.
  • Follow established quality, safety, cleanliness, and contamination-control procedures.
  • Communicate testing issues, equipment concerns, or unusual results to engineering and laboratory leadership.
  • Support multiple testing projects while maintaining accuracy and meeting customer deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical training in engineering technology, electronics, mechanical systems, materials science, aerospace, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in a laboratory, aerospace testing, environmental testing, manufacturing, or other highly controlled technical environment preferred.
  • Experience with ASTM E595, vacuum systems, thermal-vacuum testing, outgassing testing, or aerospace materials testing is highly desirable.
  • Comfortable working with precision measuring equipment and laboratory instrumentation.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to follow detailed technical procedures.
  • Ability to accurately document measurements, test conditions, and results.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with engineers, technicians, and laboratory personnel.
