What to Expect
Tesla is recruiting for an experienced Shipping Coordinator to join our Production Control Team. The successful candidate has strong analytical abilities, communication skills and possesses in-depth knowledge of logistics operations in a lean manufacturing environment. As a member of the Production Control (PC) team, the Shipping Coordinator works cross-functionally with Logistics, PC dock, hostler teams, external 3PL providers, gate operations and material planning stakeholders to manage inventory movement and on-site yard operations. All materials being received or shipped may be accompanied by a variety of documents which require special handling by personnel involved. All plant receiving and shipping transactions mechanically generate additional documents when appropriate. The documents may be used for receipt verification, material routing and identification and outbound forwarding. This role requires strong knowledge of MFS/WARP/ARC/TMS/TVP systems knowledge, external logistics, yard management systems, and exceptional problem-solving capabilities with inside and outside stakeholders.
Shift: 6:30PM - 6:30AM Week 1: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday Week 2:Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday
What You'll Do
- Leverage MFS inventory screen to select appropriate trailer for proper commodity in your responsibility area - Request trailer using YMS system. Submit replenishment request for new trailer if less than one hour of material left - count outside of trailer and lineside. Minimal trailer quantity review in the MFS System for Fremont Yard to assure parts coverage. Monitor min and max quantity defined if not, escalate to inbound supervisor or OCC thread (depending of commodity)
- Communicate with yard team for coordinate dock schedule and expediting if necessary. Trailer expediting - request on Teams thread and call either yard lead or yard supervisor. Provide material impact time for hostlers to have a sense of how much time they have to bring trailer (usually below 45min of material left needs to be expedited)
- 100% accurate transaction of material good receipt and delivery.Transaction clean-up, GR completion, PINK/YMS note updates. Keep a meticulous record of shipment information
- Ensure proper material is loaded on correct assets.Ensure system is updated accurately in a timely fashion
- Work with 3PL to maintain Cell inventory level and work with material planner to escalate material if necessary
- Work with teams to continually improve processes and procedures
- Maintain and insistent upon good housekeeping and proper safety practices in work areas. Determine trailer schedules and track compliance of trailer appointments from the supplier & window deliveries from external warehouses.Ensure the trailer dock dwell times are in check and are within agreed dock SLAs

- Must be able to handle materials weighing up to 30 lbs. and operate mobile equipment

Expected Compensation
$20.20 - $40.80/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
