This position is responsible for the day to day operations of the Pharmacy Department including drug distribution processes, automated dispensing systems, IV systems and processes, quality improvement, performance improvement, staffing and scheduling, technology solutions, human resource development, training, billing and overall management of the department.Responsibilities also include the enforcement of performance standards, developing efficient staffing patterns, participating in interviewing candidates for open positions, training new employees, conducting annual performance appraisals and approving vacation time, personal time, etc. This position assumes a leadership role in formulating policy and instituting practice models that promote medication safety and pharmaceutical care in all aspects of the medication management process. Responsibilities include assisting the Director of Pharmacy with all aspects of medication management and clinical services, distributive functions, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and accrediting body requirements (JCAHO, DPH, FDA, etc.).
