Department Summary The University of North Texas at Dallas (UNT Dallas) College of Business and Technology invites applications for the position of Cybersecurity Lab Assistant starting Fall 2026. This is a full-time position. The successful candidate will be expected to support the instructional mission of the Cybersecurity program through laboratory operations, student assistance, and collaboration with faculty to enhance hands-on learning experiences. Position Overview The Instructional Lab Coordinator supports the day-to-day operations of the instructional lab and learning space used for the Cybersecurity program. This role is responsible for coordinating lab scheduling, maintaining instructional resources and equipment, supporting faculty and students, and ensuring an organized, effective, and student-focused learning environment. The coordinator serves as a primary point of contact for lab-related operations and assists with technology, inventory, training, and administrative support. Minimum Qualifications A bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, and experience in instructional support, lab coordination, academic support services, classroom technology support, or related administrative operations; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Candidates who will complete the bachelor's degree by the position start date will be considered. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff. Troubleshooting skills related to classroom technology, computers, or instructional software. Ability to maintain accurate records and manage inventory. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced academic environment. Proficiency in programming and scripting languages, specifically Java and Python. Hands-on experience utilizing and maintaining proprietary or open-source cloud infrastructures. Preferred Qualifications Foundational industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Security+, or Cisco CCNA). Experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, VirtualBox) or Docker containers. Job Duties Coordinate daily operations of the instructional lab and learning environment, ensuring the space is safe, functional, organized, and prepared for classes, workshops, and events. Manage lab schedules, room and equipment reservations, and operational logistics to support instructional and academic activities. Provide operational and basic technical support to faculty, staff, and students, including troubleshooting instructional technology, software, and equipment and assisting with lab resources and procedures. Monitor lab usage, attendance, equipment utilization, and operations; maintain records and prepare reports to support planning and compliance. Maintain inventory of supplies, instructional materials, and equipment; coordinate purchasing, maintenance, repairs, replacements, and vendor services. Inspect, test, and prepare instructional technology and equipment to ensure readiness and functionality for scheduled activities. Collaborate with faculty, academic departments, IT, facilities, vendors, and campus partners to support instructional operations and resolve issues. Assist with budget tracking, purchasing, documentation, reporting, training, special projects, and events related to lab operations. Ensure compliance with institutional policies, safety standards, and technology guidelines while maintaining a professional learning environment. As time allows, assist the director of the TIDE Center. Physical Requirements Communicating with others to exchange information. Lifting and Moving objects up to 20 pounds. Moving self in various positions to perform tasks in tight and confined spaces. Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Environmental Hazards No adverse environmental conditions expected. Work Schedule As required to meet the academic schedule.
