Body Closures Engineer - Side Doors

Location: Dearborn, MI

Pay Rate: $42.31/hour

Schedule: Hybrid - 4 Days Onsite

We are seeking a Body Closures Engineer to support the design, development, validation, and production of automotive side door structures and closure components. This role will focus on door sheet metal, hinges, check arms, and related opening/closing systems.


Job Duties

  • Support the design, development, and release of side door structures, hinges, check arms, and related closure components
  • Manage components through design changes, prototype builds, validation, launch, and production
  • Investigate production and quality issues and drive root cause and corrective actions
  • Review CAD designs and interpret CAE, durability, and validation results
  • Maintain engineering releases, BOMs, and component changes
  • Work with suppliers and cross-functional Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Purchasing teams
  • Support design reviews, vehicle builds, validation testing, and plant implementation


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 2+ years of automotive engineering experience related to body closures
  • Experience with side doors, door structures, hinges, check arms, or other closure systems
  • CATIA and/or 3DX experience
  • Knowledge of automotive mechanical design and manufacturing processes
  • Experience supporting product development, validation, launch, and/or production issues
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills


Preferred

  • Direct Design & Release (D&R) or component ownership experience
  • Experience with liftgates, tailgates, moveable glass, moonroofs, or dynamic sealing
  • Teamcenter and BOM/release management experience
  • Experience with stamped steel or aluminum components
  • Knowledge of CAE, FMEA, Six Sigma/DMAIC, and engineering change management
  • Ford systems/process experience is a plus
