POSITION TITLE Limestone Plant -Engineering Reliability & Facilities Leader
Under direction of Plant Manager, maintains an efficient, well-trained force to perform the various duties of the Plant Engineering and Maintenance Departments which include maintenance and operation of all plant and service equipment, buildings and utilities of the plant, plant security, plant sanitation, installation and relocation of service and production equipment, maintenance of plant buildings and fire protection equipment, and supervision of maintenance of grounds. Limestone's ESM is also the environmental specialist. The Environmental Engineer is responsible for the overall coordination, implementation, and execution of environmental affairs for the plant. These responsibilities include but are not limited to: the areas of waste water treatment, air emissions solid waste, hazardous waste, operator certification, asbestos management, spill response, auditing, SARA, storm water, PCB management, environmental file maintenance, and training. The Environmental Engineer is responsible for being knowledgeable of the regulations applicable to the location and for staying abreast of the state if the art treatment and abatement technologies. The Environmental Specialist us responsible for leading programs for the minimization and elimination of waste streams to all media (land, air, and water).
Engineering Reliability, Maintenance & Technical Support
Establish and maintain effective equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and repair procedures to minimize production downtime, supply costs, and labor costs.
Provide technical leadership for plant electrical systems, power distribution, motors, drives, controls, production equipment, service equipment, buildings, and utilities.
Assist other departments with electrical, controls, mechanical, facilities, and equipment-reliability issues.
Ensure personnel have the training, qualifications, resources, and authority required to perform their work safely and effectively.
Communicate changes in company policies, standards, and procedures to Engineering Services engineers, specialists, technicians, and other team members.
Facilities, Utilities & Capital Projects
Coordinate the design, construction, installation, relocation, and modification of plant facilities and equipment following management approval.
Recommend necessary changes, additions, repairs, and improvements to plant equipment, utilities, infrastructure, and facilities.
Maintain and protect plant buildings, infrastructure, utilities, equipment, grounds, and property.
Lead efforts to optimize the use of fuel, electricity, natural gas, compressed air, water, and other utilities.
Advise management regarding equipment purchases, physical-plant condition, utility capacity, service equipment, operating costs, and technical concerns.
Coordinate and monitor work performed by contractors, vendors, engineering firms, and other external service providers.
Safety, Emergency Preparedness & External Partnerships
Maintain effective relationships with local police, fire, emergency-response, and other governmental agencies as needed.
Leadership, Budget & Collaboration
Promote associate engagement, collaboration, accountability, development, and positive working relationships.
Remain informed of developments in electrical engineering, controls, reliability, utilities, facilities, environmental compliance, and manufacturing technology.
Environmental Management System
Ensure environmental programs comply with applicable federal, state, local, corporate, and location requirements.
Maintain a tracking and follow-up system so regulatory reports, filings, tests, and permit-renewal applications are submitted on or before applicable deadlines.
Lead environmental programs involving natural-resource conservation, energy and water reduction, waste minimization, and pollution prevention.
Ensure required emissions testing, calculations, reporting, observations, monitoring, and recordkeeping are completed accurately and on time.
Ensure procedures and training are in place for proper solid-waste handling, disposal, landfill-shipment tracking, and recordkeeping.
Establish and maintain procedures for characterization, handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste, non-hazardous chemical waste, and used oil.
Asbestos & Spill Response
Ensure asbestos-containing materials are identified, documented, and labeled, and that approved procedures and records are maintained for removal or abatement projects.
Environmental Audits, SARA & Stormwater
QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a closely related technical discipline.
Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in manufacturing engineering, electrical systems, equipment reliability, facilities engineering, utilities, or a related industrial environment.
Three or more years of experience leading technical employees, skilled trades, engineers, contractors, or cross-functional project teams.
Demonstrated experience with industrial electrical systems, power distribution, motors, drives, controls, and plant utility systems.
Experience coordinating engineering projects, equipment installations, facility improvements, and outside contractors.
Experience managing departmental expenses, project costs, capital expenditures, or operating budgets.
Working knowledge of manufacturing safety requirements, fire-protection systems, emergency-response processes, and applicable regulatory standards.
Ability to interpret technical documentation, equipment specifications, electrical drawings, engineering drawings, permits, and regulatory requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED
Experience with programmable logic controllers, variable frequency drives, industrial automation, process controls, and electrical power-distribution systems.
Experience with air emissions, wastewater, stormwater, hazardous waste, solid waste, SARA, spill response, asbestos management, and environmental permitting.
Experience leading energy conservation, utility optimization, waste reduction, or natural-resource conservation projects.
Experience applying Lean manufacturing, root-cause analysis, Six Sigma, or other continuous-improvement methodologies.
Professional certification related to reliability, energy, electrical systems, environmental management, project management, or facilities management.
