Job Overview
The Data Platform Administrator role is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of data analytics and business intelligence platforms including Tableau, Sigma, Alteryx, Alation, DBT, Palantir and Snowflake. This role ensures optimal performance, security, and availability of these platforms, enabling business users and data analysts to efficiently access, analyze, and visualize organizational data.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Platform Administration: Oversee the day-to-day administration of Tableau, Sigma, Alteryx, Alation, DBT, Palantir and Snowflake environments, including user management, permissions, and security settings.
- Installation & Configuration: Install, upgrade, and configure software and applications for each platform, ensuring compatibility with organizational infrastructure and data sources.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor system performance, conduct regular health checks, and optimize resources to ensure platforms operate efficiently and reliably.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Provide technical support to end users and resolve issues related to connectivity, data access, and platform functionality
- Data Integration: Manage data connections between platforms and various data sources (databases, cloud storage, APIs), ensuring seamless data flow and integrity.
- Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain security protocols, conduct audits, and ensure compliance with data governance and regulatory requirements.
- Backup & Recovery: Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures for all platforms.
- Documentation: Create and update technical documentation, user guides, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaboration: Work closely with data analysts, business users, and IT teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions that meet organizational needs.
- Training & Enablement: Provide training and onboarding support for new users and promote best practices for platform usage.
- Learning: Stay up-to-date with updates, new features, and industry trends
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Experience administering data platform tools
- 2+ years of experience administering data analytics platforms (Tableau, Sigma, Alteryx, Alation).
- 5+ year of systems administration experience.
- Knowledge of ETL processes, and data warehousing.
- Proficiency in SQL, scripting languages, and workflow automation.
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) and data connectivity.
- Familiarity with information security and compliance standards.
- Knowledge of network protocols, security, and authentication mechanisms (Active Directory, SAML, etc.).
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (4 years)
- Five to up to seven years of relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering
- Experience with cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Knowledge of API integration and custom connector development.
- Certification in any of the platforms (Tableau, Alteryx, Snowflake, Sigma) is a plus.
- Experience supporting large-scale, enterprise-level data environments.
Work Environment
- This role requires being onsite 4 days a week. The Data Platform Administrator will collaborate with cross-functional teams and may occasionally be required to work outside standard business hours to support upgrades and resolve critical issues.
