Atmos Energy's Safety and Enterprise Services Enterprise Integrity Management team is looking for a Manager of Engineering Services. Alternatively, we will consider qualified profiles for a Manager of Technical Support. Responsibilities for both positions are outlined below.
- Support data and risk analysis for Atmos Energy's 75,000 miles of distribution mains and 6,700 miles of transmission pipelines.
- Lead team of Engineers and Data Analysts to provide service/support to Atmos Energy's operating divisions.
- Administer and maintain company programs, plans, manuals, procedures, practices, and standards for integrity management, laboratory testing, and pipe replacement prioritization.
- Support audits, inspections, investigations, and litigation.
- Coordinate cross-functional subject matter experts and stakeholder teams across Atmos' states and operating divisions.
Thie ideal candidate would possess the following skills/experience:
- Proficient in MS Excel.
- Familiarity with Transmission Integrity, Distribution Integrity a plus.
- Familiarity with databases, database applications (i.e. MS Access), data analysis a plus.
- Familiarity with GIS, geospatial data a plus.
- Familiarity with reporting and visualization tools a plus (i.e. Tableau, PowerBI, etc.).
- Familiarity with modeling & analysis, reliability engineering, asset management a plus.
- Familiarity with corrosion management, NACE certifications a plus.

1. Provides assistance, guidance and direction to divisional personnel regarding some or all of the following functions and/or activities:
- System safety and integrity
- Engineering design
- Regulation and measurement
- Project management
- Technical training
- Safety
- Cathodic protection design
- Technical records
- Risk mitigation
- Project accounting
- GIS, maps, technical drawings, and records
2. Provides technical review of projects, proposals, tools, reports, and equipment to assure compliance with Company standards, contracts, and regulatory requirements.
3. Develops and maintains operating and maintenance standards for the Company in order to assure public safety and compliance with regulatory requirements.
4. Oversees various technical projects and assists in engineering related computer application designs.
5. Assists during the annual capital budget development regarding engineering and other related expenditures. Reviews budget requests and makes recommendations for submission and approval.
6. Implements policies, procedures and standards to assure proper administration of activities.
7. Develops and monitors functional area budgets to assure efficient utilization of resources. Plans, directs and reviews the achievement of area goals and objectives within established company policies.
8. Maintains adequate staffing levels to assure proper administration of activities. Selects, develops, motivates and evaluates the performance of assigned employees.
9. Leads as a culture champion by promoting our vision, strategy, AtmoSpirit principles, and supporting wellness and safety initiatives.
Educational/Experience Level:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering and seven years of related experience; or equivalent.
- Licensed Professional Engineer certification required.
- Requires a valid driver's license.
Communication Skills: Requires the ability to communicate, persuade and/or influence internal and/or external customers at a high level such as employees, supervisors, managers, directors, senior management, and regulators on matters of procedures, codes, and detailed technical information.
Numeric Skills: Requires the ability to perform algebraic, trigonometric, geometric operation or moderately complex statistical methods and/or apply high level accounting methods for financial reporting.
Computer Skills: Requires advanced knowledge of various software applications required to create documents, reports and/or graphics.
Work Conditions: Primary job responsibilities require work inside an office environment. May require some traveling. Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting.
Manger of Technical Support Primary Duties:
1. Provides supervision and oversight to various projects and conducts quality control audits of work performed to assure compliance with Company standards and regulatory requirements. 2. Coordinates the planning and managing of projects in collaboration and conjunction with other functional areas including:
- Operations
- Marketing
- Engineering Services
- Geographic Information Systems
- Public, employee and pipeline safety
- Regulatory Compliance
- Gas Measurement
- Corrosion Control
- Information Technology/Telecommunications
- Supply Chain/Procurement
3. Selects, develops, inspires and evaluates the performance of assigned employees.
4. Provides specialized expertise on projects and related computer applications to staff and other operational areas.
5. Develops and monitors functional area budgets to assure efficient utilization of resources.
6. Plans, directs and reviews the achievement of area goals and objectives within established company policies.
7. Implements policies, procedures and standards to assure proper administration of activities.
8. Leads as a culture champion by promoting our vision, strategy, AtmoSpirit principles, and supporting wellness and safety initiatives.
9. Maintains adequate staffing levels to assure proper administration of activities.
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE LEVEL:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Construction Management or a related field and five years of related experience in project management, construction, contractor management or engineering.
- A general educational knowledge normally acquired through a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and seven years of related experience in project management, construction, contractor management or engineering; or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license in accordance with Company standards.
Desired certifications and licenses:
Professional Engineering License (PE) Project Management Professional (PMP) Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) Engineering Technologist's Certification (CT) Engineer in Training
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Requires the ability to provide explanations of technical or other complex matters to people with little or no background in the area under discussion.
NUMERIC SKILLS: Requires the ability to apply research methods, algorithms, and statistical and/or accounting methods to reconcile financial statements and accounts.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Requires advanced knowledge of various software applications to create complex documents, reports and graphics.
