The Financial Systems Bl Analyst (
FSBIA) delivers financial data deliverables, data stewardship, subject matter expertise, and IT liaison support for the Controller's Office, Financial Management, and University Budget Office customers within the Finance Division.
The Financial Systems Bl Analyst position will coordinate with various stakeholders and user groups to:
- Gather and analyze requirements and promote the correct interpretation, documentation, visualization, and use of data related to various enterprise data needs.
- Map requirements into dashboards, answers, and reports while ensuring conformance to all enterprise standards.
- Conduct data quality checks and perform data cleaning, as needed, to support data governance and improve data quality across enterprise systems.
- Plan, integrate, and configure business and technology solutions to support the business priorities of the Finance Division.
- Work closely with GWIT partners and across Finance in the development of systems automation and financial reporting solutions.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and internal consultant.
The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working with end users on the front-end of business intelligence and automation tools and is excited to further develop their technical ability.
The primary functions of this role are:
- This position works with the Director of Business Intelligence Services and the Director of Financial Systems and Solutions to understand the institutional data and reporting needs of the Finance Division in order to design and develop data visualizations and dashboards and respond to ad-hoc data requests from staff.
- This position will work with GWIT to deliver efficient process automation solutions.
- This position will work directly with Business Intelligence Services and coordinate with other IT organizations and campus partners in the use of the University's reporting and process automation technologies, as well as plan and execute continuous improvement.
- Serving as an adviser and participates in the planning and execution related to the deployment of data deliverables and/or other process improvement efforts.
- Utilizing a creative and analytical skill set to work in partnership with internal and external partners, along with senior management, supporting the delivery of process automation initiatives.
- Design, implement, and support business intelligence dashboards and data visualizations, including providing support for ad-hoc data requests in collaboration with the various stakeholders across the Finance Division. These efforts will include data from the University Data Warehouse, the enterprise financial system, and other systems in accordance with institutional data governance policies, standards, practices, and procedures.

| Minimum Qualifications: |
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. |

| Preferred Qualifications: |
- Background in accounting or finance with an understanding of higher education financial, administrative, and student data is strongly preferred.
- 2+ years of experience developing financial reporting, including developing dashboards and data visualizations, and reports using business intelligence software tools such as Tableau or Power Bl is desired.
- Experience with one or more data technologies (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, etc.) is preferred, and a willingness to learn how to leverage these technologies to support operational solutions, technical prototypes, and proofs-of-concept.
- Experience with data warehouse modeling, creating, managing data structures, and ETL data flows is strongly preferred.
- Experience in supporting Budgeting and Enterprise Performance Management tools is a plus.
- Ability to triage a situation and create a prototype to support decision-making is desired.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills; facilitating discussions between business stakeholders and technologists to challenge, build consensus, negotiate, and resolve conflicts
- Experience with various SDLC methodologies, such as Waterfall and Agile (Scrum) is preferred.
- Understanding emerging technologies and how to deploy them to create innovative services.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
