Are you a seasoned accounting professional with a passion for complex revenue recognition and a knack for navigating intricate financial landscapes? We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Revenue Accounting Subject Matter Expert to join a vital finance organization. In this critical individual contributor role, you will be instrumental in ensuring compliance, optimizing processes, and providing deep expertise in revenue accounting for diverse business units. Your analytical prowess and meticulous attention to detail will directly impact the financial reporting and operational efficiency of a high-volume public company environment, making you an indispensable part of the team's success.

What you'll do:



  • Serve as a subject matter expert for revenue accounting, primarily focusing on current accounting standards.
  • Manage and analyze complex revenue contracts across various business units.
  • Prepare comprehensive accounting workpapers and artifacts, executing critical month-end revenue close tasks.
  • Ensure strict compliance with control reporting requirements and maintain detailed accounting documentation.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product development, legal, and finance technology, on complex accounting matters.
  • Utilize advanced Excel functions, including pivot tables and custom formulas, for sophisticated data analysis and reporting.
  • Assist with month-end and quarter-end close processes, demonstrating flexibility for extended hours as needed to meet deadlines.
  • Support system enablement and leverage various accounting systems to optimize financial operations.
  • Identify and implement continuous process improvements for revenue recognition and reporting, driving efficiency and accuracy.


What you'll bring:

Must-Have Qualifications:



  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Significant experience in revenue accounting, with deep expertise in current revenue recognition standards.
  • Proven experience working in a public company environment, accustomed to high data volumes, complex issues, and robust internal controls.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and complex formula creation. Technical capability will be assessed via a live Excel screen-share during the interview process.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration and clear articulation of complex financial concepts.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment, fostering strong partnerships across departments.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours during peak periods, such as month-end close or project deadlines.


Nice-to-Have Qualifications:



  • Experience in the technology, software, or advertising industry.
  • CPA designation is preferred and welcome.
