The Air Instrument Technician Associate is distinguished from the Air Instrument Technician in that theAssociateperformsbasictechnical workthat includes filterinstallation, filter collection, operation,andmaintenanceof sampling unitsduring the week. The position is grant-funded and full-time at 30 hours per week, with scheduled work five days a week which includes frequent weekend and holiday schedules. We Require
One year oftechnicalexperience in electronics,mechanicalrepair,and maintenance High school diploma or GED Post-secondary education in electronics may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
Other Requirements
Air Instrument Associates mustpossessorhave the ability toobtain a valid Arizona driver's license and have an acceptable driving record by the time of hire Per the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS),BioWatchTechnicians need to be U.S. or Naturalized citizens of the United States of America andarerequiredto successfully completea DHS background check BioWatchparticipants must pass a health physical and OSHA respirator certification within six months of hire and every year thereafter; if anemergent needarises,Air Instrument Associates staffnot identified asBioWatchmay be sent for a physical Air Instrument Associates must complete certification in the USEPA 40-Hour Hazardous Materials Incident Response Operation Course within one year of hire date

Job Contributions
Collect and transport air quality samples to the lab, using chain of custody documentation based on a collection schedule Perform mandated quality control and quality assurance checks, quarterly, semi-annually, and annually, in accordance with DHS regulations Assemble, install, operate, repair, maintain, calibrate sampling units, rebuild pumps, and document associated events Maintain and track sampler instrument performance logs and reports in accordance with DHS regulations Participate in DHS environmental sampling, exercises, and special events Participate in training as required
Working Conditions
Work is typically performed in a combination of office and field environments, driving a county-issued vehicle, with occasional exposure to fumes, smoke, and dust; work is frequently performed outdoors and may be performed during periods of high temperatures and humidity, including days when the temperature exceeds 110 F Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; ability to bend, kneel, reach, twist, climb, balance, or crouch May be required to work irregular hours, including weekends, evenings, and/or holidays Must have sufficient manual dexterity of hands and body to operate office equipment Must be able to manage frequent interruptions, time pressures, high work volumes, and multiple and complicated tasks. Must be able to maintain concentration, accuracy, ethical behavior, and a professional demeanor Protective equipment required: Safety boots, full-face respirator, Tyvek suit, gloves, earplugs, dust masks, safety glasses, hard hat
