The Research Associate participates in interdisciplinary research in comparative neurobiology providing various forms of research support such as observing specimens or systems, utilizing testing techniques, analyzing data and contributing to scholar works. This research is based in the GW Laboratory for Evolutionary Neuroscience under Professor Chester Sherwood.
The lab studies the evolution of brain structure and molecular function in primates and other mammals, with work centering on comparative investigations of brains from a diversity of species, including humans, to make discoveries about the evolution of behavior, communication abilities, cognition, vulnerability to neurodegenerative illnesses, and more.
The Research Associate in this position must have familiarity with the research processes and procedures used in this lab as well as the general knowledge of the field sufficient to support the work of the lab.
Duties:
- Support to facilitate grant funded projects in the lab under Prof. Sherwood supervision
- Help to manage the day-to-day operations of the lab and monitors onboarding of new Research Assistants
- Perform independent data collection and project management on research study
- Develop and manage the project pipeline together with collaborators, and curate project samples.
- Generate neuroanatomical data, and optimize related protocols.
- Help oversee student research in the lab.

| Minimum Qualifications: |
Qualified candidates will hold a master's degree and 1 year of experience in a related discipline. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. |
