Apex is hiring a Project Scientist/Arborist to be based in Seattle, WA. At Apex, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated group of talented engineers, scientists, and multi-discipline professionals on projects that vary widely in size and complexity- each making a meaningful impact in the communities we serve. Your Responsibilities as a Project Scientist/Arborist:

Conduct tree and vegetation surveys, develop and implement vegetation protection plans, conduct hazard tree assessments
Provide environmental compliance inspection and oversight on construction projects in the Puget Sound Region
Field collection of environmental samples (air, water, stormwater, wastewater, soil)
Routine regulatory reporting related to stormwater, wastewater, solid/hazardouswaste, and airpermitcompliance
Prepare environmental management plans related to stormwater pollutionprevention and spill prevention
Problem solvingthroughselectionand implementation ofpollution preventionBest Management Practices fordischarge permit compliance
Assistwith the evaluation and permitting of environmental projects
Presentationofenvironmentaltopics to employees, clients,and contractors
Travel to project sites within Washington and Oregonrequired
RepresentApexin a safe and professional manner both internally and externally

What we're looking for:

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering,Geologyor related field
CESCL certification required (must be maintained during employment)
ISA Certified Arborist required (must be maintained during employment)
TRAQ certification preferred
Demonstrated experience in arboriculture, tree care, or urban forestry
Demonstrates sound arboricultural judgment in assessments and recommendations
Experience collecting field samples of soil, groundwater, surface water, stormwater, wastewater, and air using standard environmental protocols
Experience preparing regulatory reports and permit-related documentation
