Job Summary

The Investment Accounting Specialist supports accounting operations by processing investment transactions, performing reconciliations, maintaining general ledger activity, preparing financial reports, and assisting with audit support. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of investment accounting records while supporting financial reporting and system implementation activities. The ideal candidate has strong investment or fund accounting experience, advanced Microsoft Excel skills, and the ability to manage multiple accounting priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Job Responsibilities



  • Record investment transactions within the organization's investment accounting system.
  • Reconcile investment activity between investment advisors, investment managers, and custodian statements.
  • Perform account analysis and complete monthly and quarterly account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and supporting investment schedules.
  • Review financial transactions for accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation.
  • Support internal and external audit activities by preparing documentation and responding to audit requests.
  • Maintain transaction templates and accounting schedules used for financial reporting.
  • Complete quarterly reconciliations across multiple entities.
  • Maintain and update accounting spreadsheets and supporting financial records.
  • Assist with financial reporting and accounting projects as assigned.
  • Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as needed.


Job Requirements



  • Previous experience in investment accounting, fund accounting, general ledger accounting, or financial accounting required.
  • Experience performing investment or custodian statement reconciliations.
  • Experience preparing journal entries and maintaining general ledger accounts.
  • Experience preparing financial statements and supporting financial schedules.
  • Experience supporting internal or external audits and assembling accounting documentation.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including creating and maintaining complex spreadsheets and financial reports.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting practices.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.


Education



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
