STV is seeking an energetic and highly motivated Senior Traffic Engineer to provide leadership on traffic engineering projects. This hybrid position may be based in our Tampa, Orlando, or Jacksonville, Florida office.

The selected candidate will coordinate with and support other functional groups within STV and contribute to traffic engineering projects across Florida and other U.S. markets.

This position is intended for an individual with a minimum of 10 years of traffic engineering experience who is interested in working on transportation projects for state DOTs, local governments, and private-sector clients.

Primary role and responsibilities:

  • Be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple assignments.
  • Demonstrate a strong, collaborative work ethic and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of FDOT design standards and FDM requirements.
  • Lead traffic engineering studies, including traffic impact analyses, traffic signal timing plans, microscopic and macroscopic simulation modeling, signal warrant analyses, speed studies, capacity analyses, traffic operations evaluations, crash and safety analyses, and parking studies.
  • Develop and lead technical reports, including MLOUs, PTARs, PTSRs, IMRs, and technical memoranda.
  • Integrate into multiple project delivery teams with concurrent and overlapping schedules, potentially across multiple states.
  • Review work for accuracy and coordinate with other functional groups to support quality assurance and quality control for final deliverables.
  • Verify compliance with applicable codes, engineering standards, and industry practices.
  • Actively participate in proposal development and interact with clients as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited Civil Engineering program.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant traffic engineering experience.
  • Registered Florida Professional Engineer; PTOE certification preferred.
  • Experience with traffic engineering software such as HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, CORSIM, SIDRA, ISATe, IHSDM, and CAP-X.
  • Experience with TDM and transportation planning software such as TransCAD, Visum, or CUBE, is a plus.
  • Experience with CAD applications such as AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau is a plus.
  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with FDOT and Florida city/county clients.
  • Active participation in professional society activities encouraged.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
