The Chambers College of Business and Economics' Center for Career Development at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Career Development Coordinator. About the Opportunity The Career Development Coordinator plays a central role in delivering the CCD's direct student engagement strategy, with primary responsibility for career coaching and programming that supports student retention and post-graduation success at Chambers College. This role engages with faculty, employers, and alumni to inform coaching and programming that reflect current industry expectations and evolving workforce trends. The Career Development Coordinator works closely with the Program Director for Student Success and contributes to a shared coaching model across the full CCD team. What You'll Do
- Student Career Coaching and Development
- Coach undergraduate and graduate students and alumni on career decision-making, experiential learning opportunities, job search strategies, graduate and professional school planning, and career and life planning, with an intentional focus on both retention and post-graduation outcomes.
- Meet with students through individual appointments, group settings, and drop-in hours; provide highly tailored feedback on resumes, cover letters, and other professional documents.
- Conduct mock interviews and deliver personalized, actionable feedback aligned with current recruiting practices.
- Apply the shared coaching framework established by the Program Director for Student Success, contributing to a consistent, high-quality student experience that reflects the college's commitment to student value and ROI.
- Leverage emerging technologies and current knowledge of employer recruiting trends to ensure students are prepared for the realities of today's job market.
- Faculty and Academic Engagement
- Engage with faculty across the college as a CCD point of contact, bringing those insights into coaching and programming.
- Relay insights between faculty and the employer engagement team, and support student engagement goals as academic priorities evolve.
- Drive first-destination and real-time indicator survey response rates among coached students, and apply findings to coaching and programming.
- Participate in conversations with prospective students and families to speak to the career development value of a Chambers College degree.
- Employer and Alumni Relations
- Identify prospective employers based on student interest, curriculum alignment, and faculty research areas and relay insights to the employer relations team.
- Participate in employer site visits, on-campus events, and career fairs, gathering employer intelligence to inform coaching and programming.
- Connect students with alumni and employer partners willing to serve as career advisors or mentors.
- Programming and Strategic Initiatives
- Design and deliver workshops and programming that address the evolving career development needs of the student body within assigned academic areas, ensuring content reflects current workforce trends and employer expectations.
* Develop relevant content and resources for use across CCD channels that support student engagement and retention. * Contribute to unit-wide data collection, survey response efforts, and reporting as directed by the Program Director for Student Success.

- Demonstrated knowledge of the needs of college students and employers in today's and tomorrow's work environment
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills and customer service orientation
- Ability to deliver personalized, high-quality career coaching with a strategic orientation toward student retention and outcomes
- Technical aptitude and ability to navigate and utilize technology for program administration and service delivery
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
