| Job Description |
ECU Department of Student Services Operations' Financial Wellness Hub and Center for Student Success is currently seeking several Financial Wellness Graduate Assistants for the summer, depending on applicant pool, qualifications, and working availability of selected candidates.
Financial Wellness Interns are trained on major aspects of personal financial management (budgeting, credit, student loans, financial planning/goal setting, and banking terminology) in addition to identifying campus resources for students to save money. Interns will be trained to assist other students in understanding federal student loan repayment plans and how to make payments, pulling credit reports, and other hands-on financial skills. Interns will also be taught public speaking and one on one coaching skills. No prior personal financial management experience/courses are required; all training will be conducted on-site.
The Graduate Assistant position is based upon a flexible weekly schedule of approximately 20 hours per week during the academic semesters and a scholarship for each semester based on the full-time, in-state graduate student base tuition rate for the 2026-2027 academic year. Hired students are expected to maintain a
GPA of at least 3.0.
Expected work dates are from August 10, 2026 - May 8, 2027.
Financial Wellness Intern Job Duties:
- Present to the ECU community on various personal financial management topics.
- Assist in student coaching appointments with a certified personal financial manager, take notes, and provide feedback to students when appropriate. Interns eventually meet with other undergraduate students independently.
- Interns will take the lead on their own self-directed project if desired that extends beyond the financial education workshops/appointments that make up the core of this internship experience. These projects will be determined based on the strengths and interests of the selected interns.
