Job Summary Schedule:Days (7am-3pm, 7am-7pm) and Nights (7pm-7am, 11pm-7am) Mandatory weekend shifts every month. Holiday rotating schedule. Phillips 22 is seeking a Patient Care Assistant I (PCA), with Day and Night availability, and to provide rotating weekend and holiday coverage. Phillips House 22 is an 19-bed adult unit specializing in Gynecology Oncology and General Surgery. MGB Shuttle service Employee "Perks" - enjoy discounts on tickets and passes for everything from ski resorts to museums to sporting events Summary Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions -Performs patient care-related duties and clinical functions as assigned, including, but not limited to, performing and documenting point of care, vital signs, EKGs, bathing and other sanitary needs of patients, transferring and assisting with ambulation of patients, 1:1 patient observation for safety purposes, and phlebotomy. Assist RNs and physicians with other exams and treatments as required. -Completes all documentation such as height, weight, intake of fluids and food, output of urine/stool/vomit/other drainage, and blood glucose results in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). -Assists patients with food tray setup, eating, and feeding, as needed. -Ensures that patient rooms are stocked, equipped, and cleaned appropriately, as needs indicate and as patient volumes change. -Retrieves equipment from other areas, sets up equipment, cleans equipment between patient use, and reports malfunctioning equipment per organizational policy. -Assists with admitting and discharging patients. -Facilitates orientation of new PCA team members as directed. -Interacts with patients, visitors, and other care team members effectively -Communicates with nursing staff effectively and in a timely manner regarding issues related to patient care and condition. -Fosters a positive, collaborative team environment that promotes teamwork and professional growth. Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials Basic Life Support [BLS] - Generic - HR Only preferred Experience Patient Care Experience 0-1 year preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Understands his/her role in relation to providing patient care activities. - Understands hospital, division and unit policies and procedures and utilizes these in providing care. - Communicates effectively with the staff and all members of interdisciplinary health care team. - Communicates effectively with patients/significant others in providing patient care.
