Job Summary

Summary
CT: The CT Patient Coordinator under the direction of the CT Supervisor, who reports to the Radiology Program Manager and Director of Radiology, assists in the CT workflow by scheduling Emergency and Inpatient CT scans, answering phones, preparing patients for scans, phone screening, paging Radiologists and providers as needed and other related tasks. The CT Patient Coordinator will assist in the Lung Cancer Screening Program as needed including patient calls, data entry and scheduling annual and follow-up exams. The coordinator will perform clinical tasks utilizing EPIC to assist in safe patient scanning under the technologist's guidance. The Patient Coordinator should be team orientated and comfortable with multi-tasking while maintaining quality, safety, and patient satisfaction.

Mammography: The Patient Coordinator facilitates order entry and patient flow for all patients in the Breast Imaging Section. Under direct supervision of the Mammography Supervisor, the Patient Care Coordinator facilitates workflow to make sure clinicians attend to all patients in a timely manner.

Radiology: The Radiology Patient Coordinator under the direction of the modality supervisor, assists in the department patient workflow while working under the guidance of a technologist. The Patient Coordinator should be team orientated and comfortable with multi-tasking while maintaining quality, safety, and patient satisfaction.

Essential Functions
-CT:
* Assists in communication requests from outside providers by answering and transferring phone calls as needed.
* Makes screening phone calls for CT exams and procedures as required.
* Schedule same day add-on, ED, and inpatient CT requests into the schedule worklist.
* Proficient use of the EMR for history, lab and allergy look-up and documentation.
* Assist in CT Room turnover.
* Patient ambulatory, wheelchair, and stretcher transport as needed.
* Assist in safe patient transfer from stretcher and CT bed.
* Reviewing CT exam orders to ensure all required documentation is included.
* Confirm when required on all CT orders:
o Order matches signs/symptoms.
o All required orders are in place.
o Prior authorization is in place.
o Labs are available or ordered.
o Contrast allergies are highlighted.
* Assist the CT Supervisor and CT Manager in the Lung Cancer Screening Program by performing tasks required:
o Order meets criteria.
o Screening phone calls
o Scheduling annual appointments
o Contacting ordering providers to confirm follow up exams are ordered.
o Data entry
* Ensures insurance prior authorizations have been acquired. Communicates with managed care staff and physician's offices as needed to secure authorizations.
* Consistently demonstrates effective communication, both written and verbal, with all departmental and hospital staff.
* Takes initiative to follow up on matters as required.
* Performs all other duties as assigned or required to ensure efficient operation of the department and quality patient care.

-Mammography:
* Participates in daily workflow and follows policies and procedures for daily operations.
* Recommends changes to the protocol that would improve the overall quality and care for the patient.
* Be able to take initiative to follow up on matters as required.
* Enters the appropriate orders into the RIS/HIS (EPIC) accurately for all exams.
* Ensures that all clinicians are aware of a patient and make sure they are finished with the exam in a timely fashion.
* Participates in workflow and adapts the workflow as necessary to a changing environment.
* Monitors the equipment performance and takes the appropriate measures to have the problems resolved (i.e. arrange service/repairs).
* Consistently demonstrates effective communication, both written and verbal, with all departmental, hospital staff, and patients.
* Performs all other duties as assigned or required to ensure efficient operation of the department and quality patient care.

-Radiology:
* Assists technologists in all areas of Radiology with patient care needs such as patient transfers, patient changing, transporting etc.
* Assists in communication requests from providers by answering and transferring phone calls as needed.
* Assist in Room turn-over.
* Schedule same day add-on, ED, and inpatient requests into the schedule worklist.
* Proficient use of the EMR for history, lab and allergy look-up and documentation.
* Patient ambulatory, wheelchair, and stretcher transport as needed.
* Act as a liaison between front desk in Radiology, ED, and in-patient areas to coordinate timely care of patients.
* Reviewing exam orders to ensure all required documentation is included.
* Consistently demonstrates effective communication, both written and verbal, with all departmental and hospital staff.
* Takes initiative to follow up on matters as required.
* Performs all other duties as assigned or required to ensure efficient operation of the department and quality patient care.

Qualifications

Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent required and Associate's Degree preferred

Basic Life Support [BLS] - Generic - HR Only preferred
Experience
CT, Radiology: Medical Field experience 1-2 years required or Mammography: at least 1-2 years of Medical Field experience 1-2 years required
