Job Description

JOB SUMMARY


Builds and assembles wire and cable harnesses by following work instructions, drawings, and routers. Performs tasks like cutting, crimping, soldering, and attaching wires to connectors. Checks work using basic test tools to ensure proper wiring. Works safely with hand tools and follows quality and IPC/WHMAA620 standards while learning and improving skills on the job.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties as assigned.



  • Reads and interprets work orders, routers, blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly drawings to determine assembly procedures and requirements.
  • Routes, wraps, laces, ties, and secures wires and cables per drawings and customer specifications.
  • Performs crimping, soldering, staking, torquing, press-fitting, bonding, and related mechanical and electrical assembly operations.
  • Attaches ends of wires to components, plugs, or terminal strip.
  • Tests wiring continuity with continuity tester.
  • Uses cable testing equipment to troubleshoot problems.
  • Marks and labels completed assemblies in accordance with work instructions and customer requirements.
  • Installs backshells, strain reliefs, shielding, heat shrink, braiding, and over-molding components as required.
  • Works safely with small tools such as knives, cutters, screwdrivers, wrenches, and wire strippers.
  • Complies with all applicable elements of the TREK Quality Management System.
  • Pursues continuous improvement through training and process improvement.
  • Assembles cable harnesses and subassemblies to IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.

Salary Range
$20.00/hr. - $23.00/hr.
Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:



  • High school diploma or state-approved high school equivalency credential.
  • Prior experience in cable assembly preferred.
  • Prior solder, fiber optic assembly, wire marking, and electrical testing processes preferred.


SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:



  • U.S. Person (ITAR This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). To perform the position, you must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee)
  • Ability to read and write in English
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as routers, blueprints, drawings, specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to perform basic math: Add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Understanding of both Imperial and Metric systems and the ability to convert from one to another.
  • Ability to use measuring devices and crimp tools.
  • Ability to identify non-conforming products and take corrective action.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to workmanship standards.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to complete simple first piece builds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close visual acuity to perform activities such as: inspecting manufactured parts (with and without magnification), preparing/analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus and ability to distinguish colors and color variation of physical parts and components, and in documentation such as work instructions and engineering drawings.


WORKING CONDITIONS:



  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
