About This Role

The purpose of this position is to manage the daily activities of one of the Kansas Artificial Breeding Service Unit's Laboratories in compliance with Certified Semen Services guidelines and to assist with the semen collection process both at the KABSU facility and at private farms across the state of Kansas.

The Department of Animal Sciences and Industry (ASI) serves students, livestock producers and the animal and food industries through teaching, research and education. The Dept. of ASI prepares students for careers in the animal and food industries.

The curriculum includes the study of nutrition, reproduction, genetics, behavior, meat science and food science with production, management, and agribusiness skills. Students are given sound professional and scientific skills, a broad education and experience for contributing to our communities across the nation and abroad. Students receive excellent advisement and mentorship from faculty and professional staff and participate in extracurricular activities to develop skills to become industry leaders.


Worksite Description

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.


What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

-Requires a bachelor's degree

-One year of relevant experience.
-Education beyond the minimum degree requirement may count toward required experience if deemed relevant by the hiring manager.
-The degree requirement ensures candidates possess the comprehensive understanding of animal health principles, regulatory frameworks and analytical skills necessary to oversee operations, evaluate program effectiveness and design improvements. These competencies are typically developed and rigorously validated only through the comprehensive curriculum and intensive experiential experience inherent in a formal degree program.
-Valid Drivers License

Preferred Qualifications:

-Experience working with cattle producers, veterinarians and breed associations.
-Practical experience with cattle production and management.
-Working knowledge of current information technology applications to meet the growing demand for customer communication (website & social media) requests.
