As part of the UCLA School of Education & Information Studies, CMP works to improve instructional practices, deepen teachers' mathematical knowledge, and promote equity in mathematics education. CMP collaborates with educators, schools, and districts to develop research-based strategies that enhance student learning and engagement in mathematics. Through workshops, coaching, and leadership programs, CMP empowers teachers to create effective, inclusive, and innovative classroom environments. Position Summary The California Mathematics Project (CMP) provides professional development and leadership training for teachers of mathematics. The CMP Executive Director provides leadership for the Statewide Project and CMP regional sites in the context of the California Subject Matter Project (CSMP) model and mission as one of nine discipline-based projects in the CSMP network administered by the University of California (UC). CMP provides support to teachers to develop and enhance the content knowledge and pedagogical skills necessary to implement State Board of Education Standards, supports the improvement of mathematics education, and supports the development of long-term partnerships with low-performing schools and high need schools. Salary & Compensation UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications* K12 teaching experience is desirable, as is experience working with low-performing schools and familiarity with issues of diversity and equity in mathematics education. (Required) Extensive experience in discipline-specific teacher professional development required. (Required) Experience in and understanding of the impact of student literacy upon student achievement in mathematics preferred. (Preferred) Experience in or understanding of K-16 partnerships. Understanding of current state education Issues is essential, particularly in mathematics, including the CaCCSS-M. (Required) Management-level experience working with academic program administrators, faculty and senior executives to advance professional development goals required. (Required) In-depth knowledge and experience in mathematics. (Required) Excellent leadership skills required with emphasis on partnership building in working with teachers and site directors. (Required) Excellent organization skills and resource management skills, including a history of success at proposal writing and securing funding desired. (Required) Ability to develop leadership and support program growth in regional sites desired. (Required) Ability to commitment to the CSMP mission and goals required. (Required) Ability to work closely with other Projects and UCOP is vital. (Required) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Master's Degree degree or equivalent experience (Required) PhD in mathematics or mathematics education (Required) Special Conditions for Employment Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
