Work Setting: Onsite - High-Volume Internal Medicine Office
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8 AM - 5 PM
Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Phlebotomist I to join a busy internal medicine office. This role focuses on high-volume specimen collection, processing, and packing while delivering excellent patient care and maintaining laboratory quality standards. The ideal candidate will have strong phlebotomy skills, be computer savvy, and work effectively in a team environment.
Work Environment
Facility Type: Internal Medicine Office
Daily Blood Draws: Approximately 30-40
Standing Requirement: 6-8 hours per day, depending on patient volume
Work Setting: Team environment (working alongside one other phlebotomist)
Training: 3-4 weeks, depending on learning pace
Travel: Light travel may be required during the training period
Key Responsibilities
Perform venipuncture using straight needles while ensuring patient comfort and specimen quality.
Collect, process, package, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
Verify patient information and ensure accurate specimen labeling.
Maintain specimen integrity by following proper handling, storage, and transportation procedures.
Accurately document patient information and laboratory activities in the appropriate computer system.
Perform specimen processing and packing according to laboratory procedures.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following OSHA and laboratory safety guidelines.
Work collaboratively with the phlebotomy team to support daily operations in a high-volume office.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support laboratory operations.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 2 years of specimen collection experience using straight needles.
Strong computer skills and ability to work with electronic systems.
Experience performing 30-40 blood draws daily in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
Strong attention to detail and excellent patient communication skills.
