Overview

What You Will Do

The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for supporting payroll processing activities and ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time. This role maintains payroll records, reviews timekeeping data, assists with payroll-related inquiries, and supports compliance with company policies and applicable laws.

Key Responsibilities

    Administer wage garnishment processes, including child support orders, tax levies, creditor garnishments, calculations, setup, remittance, recordkeeping, and employee inquiries while ensuring compliance with federal and state requirements.
  • Audit timecards for accuracy and policy compliance.
  • Support payroll activities as required.
  • Maintain payroll records and employee information.
  • Assist with payroll audits and reporting.
  • Respond to employee payroll questions and resolve issues.
  • Coordinate with HR, Benefits, and Accounting teams to ensure accurate payroll processing.
  • Support compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on payroll department experience.
  • Proven experience of wage garnishment administration in a multi-state environment, including child support orders, tax levies, and creditor garnishments, with a strong understanding of payroll compliance requirements, withholding limits and applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft office, especially Excel (lookups, formulas, audit spreadsheets).
  • Proficient with payroll and timekeeping systems and ability to learn and support new payroll technologies and system implementations.
  • Working knowledge of payroll taxes, deductions and benefit impacts.
  • Familiarity with certified payroll, prevailing wage, and union requirements a plus.
