Job Summary:

Responsible for assigned Quality functions, as well as leading the development and implementation of overall quality improvements, reduction of defects, and improving customer satisfaction

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Provide leadership and expertise to implement, improve and maintain aerospace quality systems
  • Quality planning including the development and implementation of processes and internal documentation for product conformance
  • Facilitate quality improvement and root-cause corrective action projects as required
  • Develop analytical methods to reduce product variation. Drive initiatives to reduce scrap, rework, and customer claims
  • Support the response to customer complaints, rejections, and requests for corrective action to enhance positive customer and supplier relationships in a cooperative environment, including continuous follow-up and interface with customers and suppliers on all quality issues
  • Prepare and present detailed and management oriented written and oral reports
  • Establish quality key performance indicators (KPI) in alignment with Quality Manager and/or General Manager of the division and ensure targets are communicated and achieved
  • Oversee quality assurance investigations of non-conforming products and processes, including identifying underlying causes, and developing and coordinating recommended corrective actions
  • Develop, mentor, and coach quality team members on a continuous basis to increase their skills
  • Oversee staffing, training, scheduling, task/project completion, performance, professional development, and succession planning for assigned employees



Job Skills & Abilities:



  • Experience in quality management systems in AS9100 certified environment
  • Strong customer relations skillset; ability to effectively interact with customers as needed
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including projects and performance management
  • Proven decision-making and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong understanding of business principles (i.e. finance, accounting, and budgeting)
  • Collaborative working style, thrives in a cross-functional team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to create, set, and achieve strategic objectives that align with the organization
  • Sound judgment is required in resolving complex problems based on experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong math skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills



Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or closely related technical field
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years' engineering or quality management experience in a manufacturing company
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience within a Quality Control department
  • Demonstrated experience with quality improvement tools and techniques, quality auditing, root cause analysis, mistake proofing, FMEA, FAIR, PPAP, SPC and APQP
  • In depth knowledge of latest version of AS9100 required
  • Familiarity with Aerospace industry standards including Nadcap preferred
  • Six sigma black belt certified and Lean Manufacturing experience preferred



Physical Requirements:



  • Prolonged period of sitting at a desk, working on a computer


  • Ability to use a microscope and other gaging and measurement equipment
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at organizations' facilities; both internally and externally
  • Ability to travel as needed
