Operations Support Technician

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Operations Support Technician to join our Data Center Operations team. This position is responsible for supporting the daily operation, maintenance, and organization of critical IT operations within a secure data center environment.

The successful candidate will assist with equipment installations, hardware maintenance, cabling, inventory management, troubleshooting, and customer support activities while ensuring operational excellence and adherence to established procedures.

This role requires strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced mission-critical environment.

Salary Range: $55,000- $60,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and decommission servers, network equipment, storage devices, and related hardware.
  • Perform rack-and-stack activities, including equipment mounting and cable management.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, connectivity, and infrastructure-related issues.
  • Conduct routine inspections of data center equipment and environments.
  • Monitor and maintain equipment inventory and asset tracking systems.
  • Perform equipment moves, additions, and changes (MAC activities).
  • Support customer requests and service tickets within established service-level agreements.
  • Document procedures, configurations, and operational activities.
  • Assist with hardware lifecycle management and equipment refresh projects.
  • Ensure proper labeling and organization of racks, power connections, and network cabling.
  • Support environmental monitoring and reporting activities.
  • Participate in after-hours maintenance activities when required.
  • Maintain compliance with security, safety, and operational policies.

Required Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience supporting IT infrastructure, technical operations, or data center environments
  • Basic understanding of server hardware, networking, and storage systems
  • Experience installing and removing equipment in racks and cabinets
  • Familiarity with structured cabling standards and best practices
  • Ability to follow technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • College graduate or equivalent
  • Experience working in a data center, NOC, or mission-critical environment
  • Familiarity with enterprise hardware from vendors such as Dell, HPE, Cisco, Lenovo, or NetApp
  • Experience with asset management and ticketing systems
  • Knowledge of power distribution units (PDUs), UPS systems, and environmental monitoring
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Server+, or similar certifications
  • Experience supporting government or federal environments

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in raised-floor and rack-based environments
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, and climb ladders as necessary
  • Ability to move equipment throughout the data center safely
