Description

Systems Planning Corporation (SPC) a subsidiary company of GAI Consultants, Inc., is seeking a Senior Environmental Manager 2 to provide advanced experience and team leadership in environmental studies and permitting and/or siting studies. The successful candidate's primary responsibility will be to provide project and task leadership for siting, permitting, and documentation efforts relating to electric transmission projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Lead electric transmission line siting investigation tasks and prepare siting documentation for regulatory review.
  • Lead environmental resource investigation tasks and prepare permit applications and associated environmental reports.
  • Manage technical investigations including but not limited to wetland and stream delineations, endangered species surveys, environmental inspections, and compliance monitoring.
  • Strong technical writing ability.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Must be able to travel, including overnight trips. Travel is estimated to occur monthly but may vary. Travel to clients, projects, and meetings in the mid-Atlantic and Midwest (up to 20%).
  • Lead implementation and compliance with safety protocols and procedures.

  • Well-rounded with aspects of consulting, industry standards and Company protocols, participation in professional societies and industry associations is preferred.
  • Coming up with ideas to improve productivity of a specific team, department, group, or division.
  • Strategic thinking and alignment: Manager must understand broader organizational strategies and goals to effectively guide direct reports' efforts.


Minimum Years of Experience



  • 18+ Years of Experience


Education



  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences orsimilar field of study


Technical Responsibilities



  • Oversight and coordination of project tasks; Available to junior staff for guidance; Provides opportunities to junior staff for becoming familiar with task management and financials.
  • Interpreting the strategy of top-level management and translating it into everyday policies.
  • Developing and implementing day-to-day routines for a team, department, group, or division.


Project and Task Management



  • Starts to serve as a Project Manager on midsize to large projects.


Communication Skills



  • Routinely interacts with clients, customers, government officials, contractors, and others; leadsproject meetings and presentations; possess marketing and sales skills; represents Company in a positive light; interacts with Task Managers and Business Sector Leaders ona regular basis; attends meetings with higher-level officials of the Company onproject status including financials.
